Why We Exist

Every morning, 10,000 Americans wake up and begin their first day of retirement. Chapter is re-inventing the way that Americans transition into retirement, starting with Medicare.

For most people, Medicare is boring, bureaucratic, and confusing. But it's important. If people wait too long to choose coverage, they risk life-time penalties from Uncle Sam, may need to undergo medical underwriting, or may pay out-of-pocket for 20%+ of medical costs plus prescriptions and most costs of dental, vision, and hearing.

What We Do

Our team and technology help retirees to navigate Medicare, including when and how to sign up, what specific coverage to choose, and how to maximize the benefits from their coverage.

Chapter has built industry-leading technology to help retirees save thousands of dollars on their healthcare. Our promise is simple: we want people to improve their health coverage while reducing what they pay for it.

How? Our platform searches every Medicare option available nationwide, while others search only a subset of plans, which is the norm in the Medicare market.

This full search is why we find savings and benefits that others miss.

Our Team

Our team is high-integrity and high-horsepower with a big heart. We are software engineers, illustrators, lawyers, and former management consultants. We have worked at organizations including Palantir, Axios, Latch, and McKinsey.

We are an equal-opportunity workplace. We are deeply committed to building an inclusive workplace for people of all races, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, religions, and ethnicities.

The Role: Data Analyst

The three things that matter most in consumer marketing are data, technology and content. The Data Analyst role lives at the intersection of the first two. You will be responsible for finding and analyzing the data necessary to inform and guide Marketing and Product activities.

We are looking for a highly collaborative problem-solver with a strong understanding of how data is implemented, distributed, and consumed. The ideal candidate understands how to work with and summarize large amounts of data to make it easily consumable by members of the Marketing, Product, Finance and Advisor teams. A strong partnership with Engineering will also be necessary to streamline reporting and analysis of KPIs.

This role reports to the Head of Marketing. He will reward you when you uncover data that proves him wrong; when you discover a correlation that has gone unnoticed; and when you identify a performance indicator that helps different teams focus together to accomplish the same Company objective.

What you'll do:

  • Help to drive day-to-day usage and development of dashboards to deliver impactful, actionable insights.
  • Facilitate the sharing of data and insights among relevant internal parties to inform future strategies.
  • Report on key metrics for campaign effectiveness and develop key findings for optimization.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses to support product and marketing teams on individual product launches/campaigns.
  • Proactively define the top level questions and insights that various stakeholders should be asking/considering/observing.
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies, fixing with appropriate solutions to maintain data accuracy.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • The ability to analyze, interpret, and tell a story with data.
  • Applied experience and proficiency with SQL or Python. Experience interacting with Spark via SparkSQL or PySpark is a plus.
  • Experience working with large data sets and relational databases.
  • A solid understanding of ETL processes and how data travels from a User Experience to a database to a data visualization tool.
  • Experience and comfort with data analysis and reporting for business stakeholders.
  • Empirically driven: understanding of how to work with large amounts of data to support or refute a hypothesis
  • Ownership orientation: You are excited to set goals and have ownership for hitting those goals with a team committed to our collective success.
  • You know that you have reached perfection in an analysis, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

We are an equal-opportunity workplace. We are deeply committed to building an inclusive workplace for people of all races, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, religions, and ethnicities.

What’s the vibe like in the office?

The office vibe is great! We enjoy quality time together during our twice weekly team lunches, but my favorite part is getting to meet with team in-person and getting jam sessions face to face. I love coming to work everyday with a team that is hardworking, friendly, and learning from each other!
