Senior Data Analyst - Finance

Benchling is growing our Data Analytics & Science team, which focuses on establishing the necessary data infrastructure and systems to enable all of our business units to answer key questions and make strategic decisions. You will establish key metrics for stakeholders within the Strategic Finance and GTM teams, and identify opportunities for data to inform critical strategic product and business decisions. You will also be directly involved in improving and evolving our internal data architecture and tools as we improve our understanding of the relationships between product usage and its effect on how Benchling operates as a company.
As part of the Data Analytics & Science team, you’ll be joining a rapidly growing, world-class engineering and product team and form the foundation of our data organization. Benchling is growing really quickly, and you’ll be setting the bar for high quality data and a data-informed culture as we scale.
Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with Finance and Sales to develop a deeper understanding of the factors that affect key financial and operational metrics such as ARR and DBNE
- Explore data from various sources including Salesforce, instrumentation in our products, and internal financial systems in order to surface these factors
- Build dashboards / reports and empower the business to answer key questions using data from Finance, Marketing, Customer Success, and Product.
- Prioritize between multiple planned analytics projects and ad-hoc data requests for our internal stakeholders
- Define and design data pipelines and data integrations to collect, normalize, and store large scale, cross-functional datasets.
Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
- 4+ years experience, not counting academic experience, on data science or data analytics teams focused on Finance for a SaaS or high-growth company
- Experience with querying and exploring data stored in MPPs (Snowflake, Redshift, Hive/Presto, or similar technologies)
- Demonstrable fluency with SQL (primarily PostgreSQL)
- Experience with a scripting language (Python, Ruby, or similar)
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Mode, Tableau, Looker, or similar tools
- Strong communicator with both words and data - you understand what it takes to go from raw data to something an executive stakeholder will comprehend quickly
