About the role
Arctic Wolf is hunting for a Financial Operations Cloud Economist to join our pack. Our mission is to end Cyber Risk! Our systems running globally and processing hundreds of billions of events per day and still seeing exponential growth. It’s easy to see the need to maintain regular governance on our operational costs and forecasting. FinOps is not just a function, it is the opportunity to define and develop what world class Financial Operations is and does, the kind that others model their teams from. You will bring a financial expert’s perspective to R&D, combining financial operations best practices with cost tracking, modelling and optimization recommendations in a technical space.
Your responsibilities include:
Develop insights and views into cost and usage data that enables technical and executive stakeholders to understand spend.
Maintain responsibility for ensuring that our costs are well understood and work with the rest of the team to identify and drive optimization activities.
Establish cost anomaly detection and alerting processes.
Partner with the Finance teams to develop cost forecasts and projections.
Contribute to department budget and expense management and tracking
Strive for rigour in our cost tracking and modelling that aligns with financial reporting best practices.
Partner with data developers to define requirements for repeated cost reporting and ad-hoc analyses.
Partner with R&D teams and AWS SME’s to accurately cost out new implementations.
Investigate data patterns and cost anomalies to derive insightful knowledge that can inform strategic and operational decisions & changes.
Promote a culture of cost ownership and financial rigour and responsibility across the organisation.
About you
Speak both finance and tech.
Proficient in gathering information from various sources, analyzing, and presenting
Experience designing reporting and monitoring to ensure awareness of cost trending.
Have developed and maintained complex models to explain and accurately predict cost.
Experience in cloud expense management using FinOps disciplines within a cloud platform.
Experience with budgeting and rigorous financial reporting practices.
Practical knowledge of native cloud provider cost management capabilities and pricing models.
Bonus: Familiarity with cost structure of AWS products and services.
Bonus: Some experience or exposure with capacity planning and rightsizing.
