We are looking to build a robust data platform as a core element of how we differentiate ourselves in the market. We have been organically growing our capabilities and now want to build a new team to make strides in innovating and building out the platform. This will include supporting business domain owners with governance, publication, discovery, transformation, storage, and availability of their data for a multitude of internal and external programmatic and ad hoc workloads.
You Are:
A Cloud Data Engineer with experience in big data - You have worked on a combination of Cloud & On-Premise Data Solutions with a variety of database & ETL tools and platforms. You are experienced in designing and setting up pipelines that bring together information from a variety of sources and formats to enable analysis and decision-making in a highly performant and efficient way so that it is accessible, easy to use and can be used for routine and ad-hoc analysis.
Together, We, the Data Team will work on innovative strategies and develop solutions that enable the collection, processing, and management of information from one or more sources, and the subsequent delivery of information to audiences in support of key business processes.
Day-to-day You:

• Architect, design and build tools enabling business data owners to easily publish their data
• Design and build flexible ETL pipelines to handle a wide variety of data availability requirements
• Create an environment for fast access to enriched data (including programmatic APIs and Ad Hoc query interfaces)
• Author tests to validate data quality and platform stability
• Maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure availability and reliability
• Investigate, resolve time-sensitive data issues and troubleshoot technical issues
• Evangelize best practices for both data producers and consumers

Specifically, Your Skills & Experience Include:

• Experience architecting data warehouses and data lakes that are organized, performant, and easy to use
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining large, highly available ETL and/or warehousing workloads
• Experience designing and implementing data ingestion solutions and data models for large timeseries data sets
• Proficient in Public Cloud (AWS/Azure) data services
• Understanding of database and analytical technologies in the industry including SQL and NoSQL databases, Data Warehouse design, Reporting and Dashboard development
• Experience in structured problem solving and articulation of design approaches to teammates
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technology and apply quickly

Bonus Points if:

• Experience designing and implementing data ingestion solutions using AWS Redshift, AWS Glue, AWS EMR
• Experience introducing and operationalizing MapReduce frameworks (e.g. PySpark, PostgreSQL, Hadoop/Hive), plus experience with tools we do not use, but should, and the wisdom to know when to recommend them
• Knowledge of Dev-Ops processes (including CI/CD) and Infrastructure as code fundamentals
• Collaboration amongst teammates to clearly define and estimate user stories
