Ford Global Data Insights and Analytics' is looking for a Cloud Data Engineer, an exciting opportunity on the team responsible for supporting some of Ford's most visible initiatives. The role of the Cloud Data Engineer is a critical enabler in helping us deliver relevant data-driving platforms and solutions across the enterprise, built on a superior data factory foundation. This role will take on the most difficult data challenges in realizing a modern data factory, as well as ensuring that data standards, information interoperability, data quality, and data availability fully support global analytics application teams in deploying and optimizing enterprise data solutions! The role of the Cloud Data Engineer is critical to enabling data-driven decision-making by collecting, transforming, and publishing data.

What you'll be able to do:
  • Build new data pipelines and data robots, take a design and bring it to life
  • Defines requirements; creates and run the data factory machinery
  • Work with stakeholders and data scientists to understand and deliver on data business requirements
  • Work with technology team to model data, create data flow diagrams as applicable to data extraction, load, and transformation
  • Perform extraction, manipulation and transformation of structured and unstructured data to use for analysis
  • Monitor data pipelines, fix recurring issues and act as First Responder when issues arise
  • Manage and optimize data pipelines
  • Perform data scrubbing and cleansing specific to model and tool specifications
Critical Success Factors
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for Data Engineering and discipline to ensure quality, reliability and customer satisfaction
  • Experience programming and producing working models or transformations with modern programming languages
  • Translate designs of Senior Data Engineer into scalable solutions
  • Understands how data is useful to the enterprise
  • Fundamentals of software engineering are a must, including use of repositories (e.g., GitHub) and test-driven development
  • Experience in Cloud (GCP, AWS, ), SQL and NoSQL databases, Java, Hadoop, Python, Spark, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and Data Marts preferred
  • Able to design, build, operationalize, secure, and monitor cloud data processing systems with a particular emphasis on security and compliance; scalability and efficiency; reliability and fidelity; and flexibility and portability
Minimum requirements we seek:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering or related fieldor a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years' experience working and building pipelines on Google Cloud or other cloud environment with Demonstration of Data skills
  • 2+ years' experience in Data Engineering, Data Science and/or Software Engineering
  • Google Cloud Certifications or equivalent AWS/Azure Certifications
Our preferred qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering or related fieldor a combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Science and/or Software Engineering
  • Associate or Professional Google Cloud Data Engineer Certifications or equivalent AWS/Azure Certifications
  • Excellent skills at building and running cloud (GCP preferred) data processing systems, pipelines, and solution with the appropriate cloud technologies
  • Experience in migrating data warehousing and data processing to cloud (GCP preferred) with awareness of current state and how to migrate a design to a future state
  • Experience with ensuring cloud (GCP preferred) data solution quality by designing for security and compliance, scalability and efficiency, reliability and fidelity, flexibility and portability
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to transfer knowledge to others
