Focus -

Be part of Colleague Experience Group(CEG) Organization that leads the Data Modernization initiative for CEG within American Express. Our team CEG Data Engineering is responsible for Modernization of the CEG data to better support CEG & Enterprise data needs for the data owned by CEG . Our group partners with various teams such as Enterprise Digital & Analytics, Colleague Insights, Colleague Information Systems etc to engineer data, platforms and insights to drive digital adoption and increased experimentation; refine and perfect colleague journeys across all our digital channels; and deliver business intelligence analytics for various initiatives within CEG & across enterprise. This team will also partner with the Chief Data Officer organization and our Big Data Engineering and Product teams to develop our Data & Reporting Strategy aimed at rationalizing and optimizing our investment and ensuring compliance with internal data governance and external regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:
• Function as member of an agile team by contributing to software builds through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation).
• Demonstrate increased self-reliance to achieve team goals.
• Participate in code reviews and automated testing.
• Debug basic software components and identify code defects for remediation.
• Enable the development, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments.
• Automate deployments in test or production environments
• To build the logic for ingesting the data into Enterprise Data Platform
• To build the ETL pipeline for transformation and aggregation of data for consumption by Enterprise via self service or dashboards/reports.
• To work with project teams in technical issue resolution in line with company and platform standards.

• Design and deliver innovative tableau visualizations across multiple business units.
• Adaptive to learn new technologies be it BI tools, Bigdata or real time data analysis to enhance user experience and predict future challenges.

Depending on role and business needs, colleagues will either work onsite, in a hybrid model (combination of in-office and virtual days) or fully virtually.

If the role you are applying for is designated as hybrid or onsite, you will be required to demonstrate that you have completed your primary COVID-19 vaccination series (i.e., 2 doses for Moderna/Pfizer and 1 dose for J&J) and, for medically eligible* colleagues, a booster shot, in order to work in or visit any of our offices. This requirement is subject to legally required accommodations.

*Booster eligibility: The CDC has established guidelines for when adults are eligible to receive booster shots depending on when they completed their initial vaccine series (currently five months after the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, and two months after the J&J Vaccine). If you have completed your primary vaccine series but have not yet reached your booster eligibility date, you will be able to come into the office; however, you will need to complete your booster within 30 days of becoming eligible to continue coming in and participating in company-sponsored in-person events.

2-4 Years of relevant work experience in Python, APIs and Big data technologies ( Hive, Spark, pySpark, Scala) and BI Advanced Visualization using Tableau/Splunk/D3 and experience with SQL/NoSQL DB.
• BS Degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Functional Skills/Capabilities:
• Exposure to Big Data platforms and data architecture.
• Hands on experience in developing data movement pipelines and data transformation.
• Code Review and Technical discussion with the team on best solutions possible.
• Experience with design and coding across one or more platforms and as appropriate.
• Hands-on experience with application design, software development, and testing.
• Experience in distributed (multi-tiered) systems and relational databases.

Technical Skills/Capabilities:
• Strong knowledge of query languages like SQL/HIVE QL
• Good understanding of Big Data Technologies ( Hadoop, Mapreduce, HDFS )
• Well acclimated to data structures and data transformation principles
• Programming knowledge of Python & shell scripts is a plus
• Good understanding of CI/CD processes leveraging Jenkins, XLR and Maven.
• Understanding of Distributed NoSQL databases(Couchbase, Cassandra, Redis, HBASE).
• Knowledge of American Express Process frameworks for data ingestion and transformation is a plus
• Knowledge of REST APIs, Event Driven Architecture - Kafka is a plus.
• Good knowledge about code/configuration/testing and version management tools like Github.
• Understanding of various SDLC methodologies particularly Agile and tools such as Confluence, Rally / Jira .
