JOB SUMMARY

This position will provide day to day functional support for Accounting assigned business applications and processes centrally managed and administered by Shared Services Support (SSS). The application support includes Oracle Financials Cloud and Third-Party applications across all subsidiaries of the Southern Company footprint. The analyst will support the end-to-end Project to Record business processes and will work closely with key business partners to provide application maintenance, process improvements and customer support.

This position will perform and support the execution, monitoring and testing of identified key controls; conduct and support audit activities and coordinate with other SSS support resources across the Southern System. The SSS analyst will collaborate with SSS support resources and assist the Technology Organization, as they provide functional and infrastructure support for the SSS supported applications. This analyst will also support the application release strategy in testing cases and writing scripts for user acceptance testing.

The Analyst will support SSS management on Special Projects, Strategic Planning Support and Business Continuity.

Job Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, IT, Accounting, or related discipline is required.
  • Exhibits strong analytical and organization skills and an attention to detail.
  • Experience in providing end-user application support to multiple user groups exercising sound business judgment
  • Functional implementation experience for Oracle EBS Projects (Oracle R12 or above).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience implementing and/or supporting as a Business Analyst some combination of Oracle Projects modules including: Oracle Project Costing, Oracle Project Billing, Oracle Project Management and Joint Venture Management.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting in the definition of systems strategy, gathering and documenting business requirements, leading fit-gap analysis, as-is and to- be business process designs, functional configuration, testing, client user training.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Oracle ERP Project Costing, Project Billing, Project Management. Joint Venture Management and Asset Management knowledge is a plus.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of the POET and how it is used throughout the Oracle Financials suite of modules.
  • Working knowledge of the following Project Portfolio Management functions
  • Legal Entity and Business Unit setups
  • BPM workflow and approval rules
  • Subledger accounting rules (SLA's) and all related accounting configurations
  • Projects Configurations
  • Projects Allocations and Projects Burdening
  • Projects Integration Points
  • Relationship between the Projects modules and the other Oracle Financial modules
  • Good understanding of Accounting, Finance and Treasury financial application systems and processes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to facilitate meetings, gather requirements and convey solutions to the stakeholders
  • Providing effective response to end-user cases accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ability to debug and resolve errors and end user issues.
  • Ability to perform and manage business process changes/requirements to include development of functional design documents, impact analysis, configuration, testing, and training.
  • Understanding of Chart of Accounts maintenance and manage value sets is desired.
  • Ability to create, follow-up and act on suggested actions plan related to Oracle Service Requests (SR's) is desired.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Reporting, Scheduled Processes, OTBI, OACS, and Dashboard usage is desired.
  • Knowledge of account reconciliation, period close processes, and controls is desired.
  • Familiarity with other Enterprise Solutions application business processes is desired.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Application Support and Troubleshooting
  • Effectively mediating between end-users, other SSS support resources and Technology Organization for application support, prioritizing issues, patches, upgrades, and enhancements
  • Working with SSS Key Business Partners in the implementation of changes to SSS supported processes and procedures / code changes, including testing and remediation of issues.
  • Researching / Troubleshooting issues that are impacting key processes and procedures across the Enterprise supported applications
  • Developing, reviewing, and approving application test scripts due to new functionality or current functionality changes.
  • Serving as a Projects Portfolio Management application(s) Subject Matter Expert and as a key partner with the TO Center of Excellence organization for Enterprise Solutions application changes.
  • Functional Specification Design
  • Project work for new functionality, and enhancements
