CNA's Analytics organization is looking for candidates who want to use cutting edge, cloud-based technology to deliver valuable insights to our business teams. The Analytics Data Management Office combines the best of IT, Analytics and Data Engineering in order to innovate and deliver at the pace of a start-up.
Job Summary
Under technical direction designs, analyzes and models moderately complex organizational data for a business area, and provides business insights.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

  1. Builds dashboards (using tools like Looker, ThoughtSpot, Tableau, PowerBI) and works with data teams to compile data extracts and SQL statements.
  1. Helps to visualize performance within and across business areas. Delivers analytics insights to senior consultants and may make recommendations to management.
  1. Interprets data and identifies relevant analyses; Monitors trends over time and provides actionable insights that support the active management of the business area.
  1. Determines possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
  1. Identifies opportunities to leverage new tools and solutions in support of analytics and reporting objectives.
  1. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction; provides informal guidance to new team members.
  1. May actively partner with other analytical teams across the organization and/or participate in special projects.
  1. Responds to and fulfills adhoc data requests.
  2. May perform additional duties as assigned.


Reporting Relationship
Typically Manager or above.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  1. Solid knowledge of core functions of an insurance company, general insurance and statistical, financial, and economic concepts, which may include a specialty area of the business.
  2. Solid knowledge of applications such ThoughtSpot, Looker, Tableau, PowerBI and other business related software.
  3. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with to effectively resolve moderately complex situations and issues. Demonstrates attention to detail.
  4. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
  5. Ability to work independently, as well as in a team, manage time and resources to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  6. Solid project management skills and strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage work deliverables/projects effectively.


Education & Experience

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or related field.
  2. Typically a minimum of four years of related work experience .
