Position Summary:

As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will assist in the design, development, and administrative control of all BI data extracts and reporting activity to help us create and integrate extensive data analytics and reporting as well as manage the Power BI infrastructure. You will demonstrate specialized skills in the Power BI platform and development methodology and the ability to contribute to the strategic development of Power BI reports, applications, and data visualizations across programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and optimize Microsoft Power BI reports and Dashboards (Operational, Strategic & Analytical) including data set ingestion and transformation, Data Modeling, Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) using the appropriate report templates depicting status of key performance indicators (KPIs) and other important business metrics for an organization to make data driven decisions
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather and document business requirements and reporting requirements to meet business needs and build and maintain data models, specifications, technical and functional documentation with business partners
  • Transition developed reports and dashboards to interactive/automated dashboards using Power BI
  • Provide support as required to ensure the availability and optimal performance of developed reports and dashboards for users
  • Ensure proper implementation/configuration management is done with best practices and change controls and with repeatable processes
  • Work to extract data through APIs, Data Factory, SSIS, SSAS, and/or Power BI Connectors to create data models in SQL, Power Query, and Dataflows.
  • Design, publish and maintain Power BI data models with many interrelated tables connected.
  • Trains end users or technical support staff to use and support reports and processes
  • Maintains a proactive view of future demands from business user's including incremental or minor fixes that should be implemented in the short-term
  • Maximizes productivity through good time management, coordination and communication with others, and commitment to set personal goals and meet delivery dates



Education, Skills and Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Informatics or a related field or a minimum of 5 years of experience in development of BI/Data Warehouse solutions
  • Strong knowledge of Data Warehouse processes and Tabular Modeling concepts, with star and snowflake data models
  • Strong skills in utilizing the Microsoft BI stack including Power BI Pro, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Integration Series (SSIS) to deliver BI Solutions. SQL 2012 required and SQL 2017 or later preferred.
  • Strong T-SQL and DAX skills including advanced coding and performance and tuning
  • Excellent in analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports
  • Able to implement row level security on data and understand application security layer models in Power BI
  • Proven experience working with business stakeholders to understand their business intelligence needs and delivering those needs
  • Azure Data Factory experience is a plus.
  • D365 F&O experience is a plus
