Optum Insight Analytics is seeking a skilled Microsoft PowerBI developer to be an integral part of cloud-based data warehousing and analytics initiatives for our Health systems/Provider clients. The candidate will be expected to work closely with Data Architects, Business Data Analysts, and source data SMEs to design and build new dashboards and performance reporting that easy to navigate and demonstrate an effective and seamless user story telling. Candidate will be responsible for supporting the build of new analytics content as well migration of exiting analytics content from client's legacy platform. Candidate will also be expected to support data model design in conjunction with the data architects and data engineering teams to meet the visualization and reporting requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders including business partners, SMEs, and BAs to build new dashboards and performance reporting to monitor and improve business performance
  • Interact with internal customers to effectively design, implement, operationalize, and document reporting that accurately captures business requirements
  • Manage implementation of reporting enhancements and changes
  • Support ad hoc data reporting and data analysis
  • Support functional requirements gathering by creation of visualization mockups
  • Support design and implementation of access controls across reports and dashboard features
  • Communicate with various functional areas and translate technical concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing
  • Develop new processes using core workflow principles that are efficient, well structured, maintainable and easy to understand
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes
  • Leverage new technologies to drive innovation in BI & Analytics
  • Able to effectively work in a matrixed organization, aligning and developing an outstanding relationship with the IT and business partners
  • Help maintain the integrity and security of the company data
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written forms and be able to present and demonstrate work to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of IT experience in Reporting and Visualization
  • 5+ years of work experience as a Power BI developer designing and building new dashboards from scratch
  • 5+ years of work experience using Power BI DAX Studio to create metrics and measures as well as execute and analyze queries
  • 5+ years of supporting extensive data analysis and validation of reports /dashboards results with underlying data in the database
  • 5+ years of experience working with relational databases and Dimensional data models (Facts/Dimensions)
  • 3+ years of experience in Dashboard performance optimization (e.g. using PowerQuery)
  • 3+ years of experience working on large scale programs, with multiple concurrent projects
  • 3+ years of experience in an Agile delivery model
  • Experience in using PowerBI Performance Analyzer


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of cloud experience, preferably Azure
  • 2+ years experience of working with Databricks, Delta Lake and/or other big data platforms
  • 1+ years of CI/CD and DevOps experience managing PowerBI source code and code deployment using Github and Jenkins/GitActions/AzureDevOps
  • Experience with other Data Visualization / Reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView, SSRS)
  • Experience and familiarity with data across Healthcare Provider domains (i.e., Patient, Provider, Encounter, Billing, Claims, Eligibility etc.)
  • Experience identifying problems, utilizing critical thinking, performing analysis, and making recommendations/decisions on the best course of action to remediate
  • Experience in design and implementation of row and column level access controls across reports and dashboard features
  • Experience working with large data sets, analyzing data, extracting relevant information, and produce user-friendly reporting capabilities
  • Experience with product management within a matrix organization
  • Knowledge of relational databases, database structures and design, systems design, data management, data warehouses and data marts
  • Knowledge of advanced manipulation techniques using R and/or Python
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, influencing, collaboration and listening skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely in writing and orally to individuals and groups
  • Proven ability to lead Business Intelligence projects and delegate work to other team members
  • Solid written and oral communications along with presentation and interpersonal skills

The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $97,300 to $176,900.
