BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE (BI) DATA SENIOR ANALYST


WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?



The Business Intelligence Senior Data Analyst is responsible for supporting the Business Intelligence team and the business users through the analysis of quantitative & qualitative data by designing database models both logical and physical for department specific projects. The position will participate and perform data analysis; develop database models, database processes and functional analysis across various database methodologies specific to Business Intelligence. This role will require the ability to lead projects as the senior data analyst related to database design in both analysis and architecture.

As a member of City National's Technology & Innovation group, you will drive, develop, and maintain solutions for clients and colleagues. This is an exciting time of technology advancement and innovation across the bank, particularly within our technology teams.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?



  • Work with Business Users to define and document explicit data requirements for implementing subject areas in the Operational Data Store and Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Perform in-depth data analysis by writing complex PL/SQL queries on various source systems, data marts and data warehouse to find trends and anomalies in the data in support of the requirements for various strategic and/or tactical projects.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on Operational Data Stores, Data Warehouse, Data Marts; guide the development design activities with assumptions and data dependencies.
  • Identify data quality issues and concerns and support the data governance initiative by being involved in various data initiatives.
  • Conduct on-going analysis of the business, operating practices, and data flows within and between various systems and applications.
  • Keeps informed of existing and evolving best practice, industry standards and technologies.
  • Fosters and maintains good relationships with colleagues to meet expected customer service levels.
  • Maintain all appropriate training and continuing education requirements for both internal programs and external licenses and certifications.
  • Develop and maintain positive, productive, and professional relationships with key business partners to meet expected customer service levels.
  • Complies fully with all Bank Operational policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements (e.g. Bank Secrecy Act, Know Your Client, Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending Practices, Code of Conduct, etc.).


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must-Have*

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working with Information technologies in a senior role required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Data Analyst
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in advanced PL/SQL and Oracle queries and analysis.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Prior hands-on experience in using ETL tools, Business Objects or other related BI tools
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of an organization.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technologies strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in Financial Services industry a plus.
  • Prior hands-on experience in using ERWin a plus.
  • Proficient in designing database models (both logical and physical)
