Business Information Developer and OpEx Lead
Description
Responsible for GECS team Excel and software support. Identifies, develops prototypes and delivers software solutions for internal business customers to enable strong data driven business decisions.
- Train and assist co-workers with Excel data to create and utilize pivot tables, formulas and visualization for improved efficiency
- Utilize Apache HIVE / Hadoop for data analysis
- Develop SharePoint lists for small data gathering tasks
- Ability to use Power BI, code DAX and Power Query (M)agic language to develop business solutions
- Assist engineers with financial reporting
- Develops and maintains workload models for the organization
- Knowledge of MS-Access and ability to code SQL
- Experienced with writing code loops
- SharePoint development
- Ability to generate metrics and KPI by identifying best software tool and coding and linking multiple data sets
- Support engineers in delivering QCWFT (Quality, Cost, Weight, Function Targets) for the electrical team

- Train and mentor new engineers and buyers to understand GM Data systems
- Develop projects from cradle to grave with minimal IT support
- Assist in data visibility initiatives across SMT
- Work closely with the QRD and Quality Chain Engineers on initiatives to meet business objectives
- Single-point for adoption of AI binning initiative for all QRDs
- Develop tools for Program Leads to be able to effectively show status of programs
- Single point contact for QNES (Suggestion program) coordination for GECS
- Support Engineering and Quality to identify / manage OpEx projects across GECS
- Update monthly Director travel budget
- Create dashboards that support Engineering in understanding feature / commodity glidepath and usages across the portfolio
- Support GECS on leader dashboard and related activities
- Leads and participates in complex projects.
- Creates & delivers dashboards to aid in presentations for management consumption
- Provides and reviews metric data to improve efficiencies.
- Provides customers & project teams with data analysis.
- Support & lead strategies to achieve business initiatives.
- Mentors team members and influences by example.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Additional Description
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- 3+ Years of post graduation experience in automotive required; 5+ years strongly preferred
- 3+ Years working with data
- Master Black Belt (completed or in progress)
- VBA and SQL proficiency is a must
- Strong Excel, SharePoint, Power BI and data management skills
- Demonstrated advanced Excel skills (If statements, pivot tables, power query, Index-Match)
- Knowledge of electrical space with respect to reuse / cost / glidepath
- Understanding of product design and process interdependencies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Python preferred, JavaScript and/or Java nice to have
- Ability to pass a basic coding test
- Understanding of relational databases work (1 to ∞ relationships, Foreign Keys, etc...)
- Strong Analytical Problem Solving Skills
- Knowledge of GM systems
