Business Analyst - Strategy

Opportunity:

  • The Business Analyst - Strategy role will reside in the Bungalo group (Incubator) at Amherst. This role represents a unique opportunity to be exposed to and operate at the highest levels of a leading digital real estate company that’s already at scale, profitable, and growing quickly.
  • The role will go deep into our SFR acquisition, renovation, sales, marketing, and business issues
  • The individual will coordinate resources, develop solutions, and support their execution in partnership with the relevant teams
  • This position requires someone who is highly driven, quick to learn, self-motivated, has excellent quantitative, analytical, and modeling skills, works well independently and in a team setting, and has a passion for learning real estate markets and operations
  • Position preferably to be based in or around Austin, TX but open to remote work for the right candidate. Position will work directly with the Retail Strategy Lead along with other leaders across the organization in tackling some of the most significant challenges facing Bungalo.

As the Business Analyst - Strategy you will drive the following:

  • Strategic Analysis: Analyze data and identify trends and key findings in both qualitative and quantitative data sets from various systems. Provide value added strategic insight, quantitative analysis.
  • Business Case Development: Analyze and evaluate the financial impact of ongoing and proposed strategic initiatives, taking a lead role in developing business cases to drive new initiatives. 
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Support ad-hoc analyses and projects, including automation of reporting from various internal software platforms, creation and/or maintenance of financial and operational reporting dashboards, and data visualizations
  • Operational Reporting: Consolidate, synthesize, and communicate regular reporting on the projects that give insights and support to the leadership team.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and escalate risks identified, working with business leaders to develop and implement action plans for resolution
  • Business Plans: Conduct research and support the establishment of business plans in coordination with strategy, research, and modeling groups
  • KPI Development: Assist in developing and driving KPI processes inside of the projects, ensuring that KPIs have organizational alignment and regular dashboard reporting.

Candidates will need to demonstrate essential capabilities:

  • Analytical capability: Confident in creating, scrutinizing, and improving data-driven analyses. Repeatedly done the work to make sure complex business reporting data is accurate, but also able to filter out the noise by identifying the most salient data points to inform decision-making
  • Executional excellence: Strong organizational skills, dependable and high sense of responsibility, with the skillset to manage projects and a wide range of high-priority tasks.
  • Executive-level communication and presentation skills: Quickly communicate complex concepts briefly, simply, and persuasively, whether in written word or presentation.
  • Structured problem-solving: Strategic thinking, in particular the ability to break complex problems down into component parts. The ability to lead on and enjoy both strategic and tactical work is key

  • Emotional intelligence: The ability to establish strong and trusting relationships with colleagues
  • Facilitation skills: You design thoughtful meetings and interactions and are skilled at chairing or facilitating meetings or sessions that make progress on high-stakes discussions with senior stakeholders
  • Comfort managing up: You know how to be vocal about risks and issues even when it’s not popular and can provide mitigation recommendations

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative field including Business, Finance, Information Management, Math, etc.
  • 3+ years in management consulting, investment banking, business development or equivalent business experience
  • Familiarity with real estate private equity or real estate operations and real estate finance preferred
  • Modeling (Data/Statistical) experience, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint; quantitative experience in SQL/R/Python are desirable, but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, able to inspire and move others to effect change.
  • Highly analytical and process-oriented; ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and adaptable with excellent organization, time management, and prioritization skills; follow through with a sense of urgency.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, good attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and results-focused, executes efficiently and effectively
