REPORTS TO: Director of Product Management, Advisor

DEPARTMENT: Technology

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

WORK SCHEDULE: M-F, may need to flex times due to business needs

LOCATION: Boise, ID, or Hartford, CT

JOB SUMMARY:

The Software Business Analyst is responsible for determining inhibitors, gaps in tools, or processes that are broken or not fully understood, and drive and communicate solutions. This position will work with project stakeholders to identify, model and then document their requirements and business domain details. Evaluating processes for alignment opportunities is also key.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the first line of defense for answering questions from the business, tech team, testing team, and escalate issues to the Product Manager and Project Manager. 
  • Works to research and define the requirements across Covr’s technology product suite by understanding the client needs and competitive environment.
  • Assists product owners, customers and developers to derive product specifications and scope.
  • Collaborates with development teams across the SDLC from inception through delivery.
  • Documents project details and requirements.
  • Researches and analyzes the nature, effect, and results of system difficulties.
  • Works closely with the UX/Design Lead on special projects as needed.
  • Determines how changes to the project will affect the business and systems.
  • Provides recommendations regarding the evolution of the system.
  • Acts as liaison with Information Technology and/or outside vendors to support relevant systems.
  • Produces reports, timelines, and demonstrations to communicate expectations and progress in-house and to other relevant parties.

 

JOB SPECIFICATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent work-related experience
  • Experience with common Office tools and visual design / prototyping tools
  • Insurance industry experience a plus

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good documentation skills and the ability to create artifacts using standard tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent critical thinking, planning, organization and problem identification skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to understand business requirements, determine the best path to a solution and see it to implementation
  • Ability to work with end users and other stake holders to obtain and refine requirements
  • Ability to train and support business users on provided solutions as necessary
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment with professional and technical fortitude

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Desired understanding of insurance products that Covr supports (Life, LTC, DI, etc.)
  • Understanding of the workflow of insurance product issuance (application, underwriting, issuance, etc.) and the role off a full-service digital BGA in that space.
