Position Summary:

Securian Financial is seeking an experienced Product Analyst to work in a collaborative environment focusing on our Annuity and Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) business technology applications and process. We support the administration of our Annuity and PRT customers and are looking for someone who can help drive positive results for the business areas we support.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with Product Owner and business partners to identify and elicit technology needs and work with the scrum team on identifying solutions.
  • Help the Product Owner document the technology needs, mostly in user story format. Also help with identifying acceptance criteria.
  • Help Product Owner and scrum team to plan work in upcoming sprints, considering a variety of factors such as priority, effort/cost, complexity, dependencies, and business and system impacts.
  • Collaborate with Product Owner, scrum team, business stakeholders, and other teams to refine user stories and get them ready for development while also identifying dependencies, risks, and other concerns.
  • Working with a variety of internal and external partners to elicit and document business requirements for user stories.
  • Provide assistance where needed throughout sprints for the development team, such as answering questions on requirements and providing input on testing strategy.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation of system and business processes.
  • Grow and maintain knowledge of product, plans, business processes, and system applications.
  • Grow and maintain awareness of trends in the annuity business and technology space.



Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in business, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical aptitude to acquire a thorough knowledge of assigned systems and work with business management and vendors on current and future technology needs.
  • General understanding of the Annuity and PRT insurance industry
  • Self-motivated and independent with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for work.
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to define and understand business needs and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information and facilitate understanding of system capabilities and limitations to non-technical users.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills that allow effective, proactive working relationships in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of project management, business analysis and software testing techniques and associated tools.
  • Proven ability to independently organize and prioritize multiple projects and/or related activities so that you are able to adapt to conflicting work demands and evolving business needs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with team members, business users, stakeholders, subject matter experts, vendors, to help navigate through problems, decisions, and related implications.

Physical job requirements:

  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Ability to utilize telephone for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire work day (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper)
