The analytics team serves as the primary source for business analysis and insights. The team's main objectives are to partner with business teams, analyze data to help drive decisions, measure results and provide go-forward business recommendations for stakeholders. Additionally, the team serves as the key resource for cross-functional teams (Marketing, Finance, Business Development and more) on all the above subject areas. As part of the team, this Business Analyst will have multiple responsibilities including working with business, product, and editorial teams to understand strategy and vision, conducting data analysis, and driving business decisions through use of slides, looker, and other visualization tools.
Your Day

• While you will be part of the broader Global Consumer Analytics team, this role will primarily support the Yahoo Finance product
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, editorial) to solve business challenges through business and data analysis
• Work with product teams to understand business problems, frame the problem into questions that can be answered through data analysis, formulate analysis plans, analyze data and derive actionable insights.
• Communicate your findings effectively and efficiently with product partners and executives to drive product and business decisions.
• Work with product and engineering teams to provide requirements and guidance on tracking and instrumentation standards, data validation
• Extract data, use statistical tools and techniques to turn data into insights and use data visualization tools to tell-the-story.
• Create dashboards and reports to provide transparency to data and metrics. Drive reporting optimization through continued improvement in production & visualization

You Must Have

• BS/MS in quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science)
• 3-5+ years of experience generating actionable insights that aid data-driven decisions in building great products with great user experience.
• Proven record of delivering actionable insights through exploratory data analysis & predictive analytics using statistical and machine learning techniques and concepts.
• Excellent problem solving, analytical, abstract thinking skills and business acumen to understand business problems and convert it into data problems, collect and organize data, analyze and formulate insights.
• Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate the findings to product teams and executives and influence product and business decisions. Ability to explain complex analytical concepts to non-experts.
• Proficient in data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python or R.
• Proficient in data visualization tools such as Google Studio, Tableau, Looker.
• Good working knowledge of cloud based services like Amazon Web Services (AWS) including ETL and Data Integration a plus
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop (Pig/Hive), Spark, or other related technologies a plus
• Self-motivated and results-driven.

If hired for this position in Colorado, the compensation range for this position is between $105,750.00 - $176,250.00. The compensation may vary depending on your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include additional incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, plus equity incentives. Yahoo provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, retirement, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave and an employee assistance program.
