Onyx is looking for an experienced and collabrative BI Business Analyst with a data analysis focus to work within our technology department and partner with the product, design and client management teams.

In collaboration with the Onyx Technical teams, Product Owners and Project Managers the Technical Business Analyst will work to review and analyze business goals, objectives, current/future systems, issues and constraints, analyze and evaluate business systems and user needs. Additionally, this role includes documenting requirements, researching new markets, writing user stories, helping manage the product backlog and assisting with acceptance testing.

To succeed in this role you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and possess excellent communication skills to be able to explain difficult concepts to technical and non-technical users.

Main tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Creating detailed business analysis documenation, outlining problems, opportunities and solutions for a business
  • Responsible for driving product discovery phases to uncover business needs and value, clarifying the functional solutioning of a business need.
  • Ensuring user stories have the correct acceptance criteria and are "ready" for development to start work
  • Understand high-level to detailed functional and technical requirements of a project
  • Gathering requirements and drafting user stories
  • Creation of detailed buiness requirements, flow diagrams and data analysis
  • Help manage the product backlog
  • Ensure close collaboration with the development team and other teams
  • Ability to work with teams in multiple time zones
  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
  • Responsible for research, identify and understand business, operational or customer challenges, as well as their impacts to internal and external processes
  • Contributing to overall strategic direction and collaborate with stakeholders, subject matter experts and colleagues wherever necessary.
  • Understand high-level to detailed functional and technical requirements of a project
  • Ability to define processes and requirements for consumption by business, development and quality assurance teams
  • Contributing to overall strategic direction and collaborate with stakeholders, subject matter experts and colleagues wherever necessary
  • Assist with acceptance testing
  • Liaise between the Product and the development teams to ensure clear defect communication
  • Improve systems by studying current practices; designing modifications
  • Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time issues
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Is experienced in researching and filling in gaps
  • Is able to look at a design and break it down into requirements for one or more user stories, identifying "happy path" as well as "alternative paths"

  • Gathering requirements and drafting user stories

  • Ensure close collaboration with the development team and the client.
  • Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time issues

  • Collaboration with channel partners, system integrators, and third parties to deliver and manage implementation of high impact solutions


Competencies:

  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills required to successfully work in a team environment and communicates effectively across a variety of stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to self-start, to work independently and to take ownership.
  • Team player and strong soft skills.

  • Experience in writing SQL for data analysis
  • Understanding of Business Intelligence Environment
  • Experience in JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience in defining detailed business requirements to support strategic and/or tactical projects.

  • Analytical and strong organizational skills, with excellent verbal and written ability.
  • Strong business analysis skills.

  • Very good understanding and experience in process mapping using standard tools
  • Has the ability to asks clarifying questions
  • Effective communicator and understands how to communicate with Product and Technology teams
  • Experience in As-Is and To-Be process development and documentation
  • Experience in large scale projects following Agile development methodologies
  • Experience in translating requirements to UX design
  • Experience of user story creation
  • University degree in the field of business administration, finance, information systems or equivalent experience

  • Hospitality experience, travel industry helpful

  • Five years related work experience
