Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process vendor invoices in a timely & accurate manner
  • Issue internal invoices ("chargebacks") to the appropriate department in collaboration with OptumCare Finance
  • Collaborate with our Care Delivery Organizations (CDOs) to ensure that they understand and agree to invoices and charges for which they are responsible
  • Accurately calculate individual CDO responsibility for shared services invoices where multiple entities may be responsible for a fraction of the whole (e.g. usage based, volume based, etc.)
  • Track actuals vs. expected total cost on a rolling basis
  • Report to management teams on status of invoices e.g. year-to-date, deviations from expected
  • Escalate any unexpected invoice issues such as overage, did not receive, or incorrect attribution
  • Handle inquiries from Care Delivery Organizations who have a cost sharing responsibility for the EMR-PM applications
  • Resolve any invoicing issues or mistakes both in collaboration with vendors and internally within Optum & CDO finance teams
  • Complete & communicate results of "true ups", audits, and clean-ups on a regular cadence as assigned by management
  • Identify and suggest opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
  • Prepare and maintain records of amounts owed and ensures prompt payment of invoices
  • Process and verify invoice coding of expenses, preparation of vouchers, and issuance of checks for payment
  • Review documents for accuracy and compliance with organization policy and regulatory guidelines including proper authorization, documentation, general ledger coding, correct amounts, proper remittance and sales tax
  • May include responsibility for processing vendor payments, as needed
  • Support department administrative and operational processes as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED or 2+ years equivalent experience in invoice validation process
  • 2+ years of experience in MS Office, especially MS Excel
  • 2+ years in creating and maintain Excel spreadsheets and execute all basic mathematical equations (e.g., Sum, Average, Div) with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • 1+ years Demonstrating excellent communication skills, critical thinking, and accountability


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with applications such as Concur and Ariba
  • Work experience in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or Healthcare is a plus
  • 1+ years creating repeatable processes and recommend changes for efficiency


Soft Skills:

  • Self-starter who can recognize needs and act with little guidance and intervention

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $54,400 to $97,000. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $60,000 to $106,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
