The team members lead and conduct research & development and provide consulting for business units on a wide variety of mathematical technologies. We are currently seeking an Applied Statistician to work in any of several Boeing locations across the US, including cities in AL, AZ, CA, CO, FL, IL, KS, MO, MT, NC, OK, OR, PA, SC, TX, UT, VA, or WA. This position allows telecommuting. The position will develop solutions and work across all Boeing locations in the area of applied statistics. The tasks performed will be to develop solutions and statistical software to solve complex problems supporting our current research and consulting needs. This position will support the development of work with customers in commercial and defense and help craft research needs based on consulting work.The successful candidate will evaluate resources to solve mathematical and statistical problems, assist with statistics research, contribute to the development of research proposals, influence colleagues and customers to use mathematical tools and processes, and codes, test and maintains statistical software. Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop statistical methods supporting enterprise research and consulting needs
  • Collaborate with other mathematicians and engineers to develop problem formulations

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Strong software programming skills and experience of programming languages such as R, Python, Java, C, or C++

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Advanced degree - PhD degree strongly preferred (A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a Statistics, Biostatistics, Operations Research, mathematics, or scientific field of study).
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to adapt to changing environments and work statements
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical audiences and be a self-starter.
  • Experience managing several simultaneous projects effectively and across various geographical locations
  • Passion to develop statistical methods in research & development and apply statistics to develop industrial solutions
