This position will serve in the Applied Mathematics Combined Technology Team as the first line leader in Computational Mathematics leading a technical consulting and research team in the areas of Computational Mathematics, Geometry, Numerical Optimization and/or Operations Research. The position will guide the team to develop solutions and work across all Boeing locations in the area of applied computational mathematics.   • Lead a team of diverse applied mathematicians with advanced degrees in the areas of Computational Mathematics, Geometry, Numerical Optimization and Operation Research in consulting and research projects for the business units and Boeing Research and Technology
  • Work closely with fellow Applied Math managers and other engineering managers, program managers and external customers to determine research and consulting needs for the organization
  • Evaluate business requirements against cost, schedule and technical constraints
  • Develop personnel within the team and support follow managers in the growth of the Applied Mathematics Combined Technology Team
  • Manage expectations, performance, and compensation of direct reports
  • Coach employees on technical, functional, team skills, and career goals
  • Work with fellow Applied Mathematics managers to support hiring activities, staff forecasting, and staffing to plan

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in business consulting and research in applied mathematics
  • Experience leading teams on projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited course of study in applied mathematics or related field with an emphasis in Computational Mathematics, Geometry, Numerical Optimization or Operations Research or equivalent work or military experience
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to adapt to changing environments and work statements
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical audiences and be a self-starter
  • Experience managing several simultaneous projects effectively and across various geographical locations
