Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Database Administrator you will design, develop, and support applications using DB2 Database Basic tasks include Installation and configuration of Databases, back up, restoring databases, setting up High Availability, Disaster recovery, performance tuning, RAC administration etc.

As a Database Administrator you will provide leadership in administering and managing Databses and Loical and physical aspects of database for application development as part of a development team/squad to build modern enterprise-scale applications.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5 to 10 years of experience providing both Physical and Logical DBA support for large scale database systems.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience planning and executing DBA support activities independently. Should be able to document and execute to plans.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience defining implementation plans independently for Database Support activities.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience working in a cloud environment, preferably AWS.
  • Very good communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot database problems and rapidly identify resolutions.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience performing DBA support services tasks listed below:

DB2 Storage Configuration
DB2 Client Configuration
DB2 Client Installation
DB2 LUW Configuration
DB2 LUW Installation
Support Creation of new Databases as needed by Application Support Team
24/7/365 On Call Support
Identify and Resolve System Performance Issues (drive space, CPU, memory)
Incident Response
Monitor and Maintain Performance of Databases
Monitoring and Analyzing Database Locks, Long Running SQL
Monitoring and Analyzing resources DB2 logs
Service Desk Ticket Analysis
Monitor and Maintain Database Maintenance Jobs (Indexes, Statistics) for Production
Monitor and Maintain Database Maintenance Jobs (Indexes, Statistics, etc.) for Lower Environments
Monitor and Maintain Database Backups and Transaction Logs for Production
Monitor and Maintain Database Backups and Transaction Logs for Lower Environments
Monitor and Maintain High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) Database Configuration for Production
Monitor and Maintain Production Backup and Transaction Log Copies to S3
Monitor and Maintain Production Backup and Transaction Log Copies to Cross Region S3
Resource Planning and Growth Weekly / Higher Frequency
Maintain Database Master Data Definition Language (DDL)
Maintain Database Version Control across all Environments
FSFN / MDM Code Promotion / Release
Deploy DBCRs for Lower Environments
Production Deployment of DBCRs for Database Changes for Data Mart
Production Deployment of DBCRs for Database Changes for Data Warehouse
Production Deployment of DBCRs for Database Changes for FSFN / MDM Web Application
Refresh Lower Environment Databases from Higher Environments
Run database scripts for security and data obfuscation in Lower Environments
User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Deployment of Data Base Change Requests (DBCRs) for Database Changes for Data Mart
UAT Deployment of DBCRs for Database Changes for Data Warehouse
UAT Deployment of DBCRs for Database Changes for FSFN Web Application
Reporting and Documentation of DB2 Monthly / Higher Frequency
Perform Quarterly and Annual Tasks for Audit Database Maintenance
DB2 Client Upgrades/Patches (DBA tasks only, not inclusive of functional FSFN regression testing)
DB2 System Upgrades/Patches (DBA tasks only, not inclusive of functional FSFN regression testing)
Participate in Disaster Recovery Planning
Participate in Disaster Recovery Test

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Agile Information System Delivery
  • Ability to work in a large team of Functional and Technical Experts
  • Ability to follow processes in support of a large team managing enterprise IT systems
  • Thorough understanding of Software Development Life Cycle
