The Analytic Solutions Advisor is responsible for bridging the gap between Data Science Solutions and the Product, Operations, and Client organizations in the Payer group. By understanding the capabilities, strategies, financial and operational goals of stakeholders, the analytic solutions advisor can identifying opportunities to leverage data science or core analytic solutions, assist with the management of and intake of analytic innovation projects, act as product manager for analytic products and services, and work across the Payment integrity landscape to achieve savings, efficiency or knowledge value.
This position will establish and cultivate relationships with our business and analytics partners and clients: UHC and OPI Operations Business Leads, Analytics and Technology teams, Finance and the PMO. developing business insight from an extensive suite of payment integrity data science and core analytics and represent the business needs to the analytics team. The Advisor will research industry trends and technology, monitor performance and issues, and bring analytics solutions to address those needs. The advisor will manage the roadmap of analytics projects ensuring that business objectives and strategies are met. In addition, this role can coordinate implementation of programs and solutions, collaborate across the enterprise on new product offerings, and assist with quality and performance management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the business teams to develop and implement a strategy to achieve business goals
  • Establish strong matrixed relationships with internal and external stakeholders to define, align, and deliver analytic innovation initiatives to support new Payment Integrity
  • Identify and research key industry, company and operations issues and provide insight to business teams
  • Develop and maintain the analytic roadmap for the assigned area
  • Provide industry insight and thought leadership to business and analytics teams to assist the team to achieve business and analytics goals. Offerings
  • Engage with innovation and growth teams to execute programs with analytics aspects
  • Communicate business and analytic client's needs to data scientists
  • Develop executive analytic presentations / materials, coordinate analytic requests, and support the analytic planning process to drive performance
  • Act quickly to seize opportunities to leverage analytic services in innovative and new ways that drive broader and deeper value for our clients
  • Ensure analytic work is managed via the correct portfolio process
  • Create programs which provide awareness and understanding of our advanced analytic services and how they compare to industry best practices
  • Provide oversight of complex analytic initiatives, providing timely and meaningful client updates
  • Develop streamlined path to escalate and resolve analytic process and performance issues
  • Participate in demonstrations and sales presentations as needed
  • Leverage analytics to identify quality issues and drive to solutions
  • Diagnose opportunities for, and promote process reengineering, automation, quality, and efficiency endeavors


The successful candidate will be a seasoned data scientist, or data-oriented payment integrity analytics professional with proven experience driving and communicating analytic solutions targeted toward growth. Those best suited for this position have strong payment integrity, analytic, and relationship skills, with an innovative approach. The role requires the ability to discuss and manage analytic deliverables at a rapid pace in a highly matrixed environment. This position requires a leader who is passionate about delivering maximum value from Optum's Payment Integrity Analytics through the collaboration with matrix partners and clients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in the healthcare industry
  • 3+ years of experience working in a matrixed organization
  • Experience working in a data analytics or data science role or organization
  • Experience in performing complex data analysis and communicating the results
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree
  • Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma process improvement methodologies
  • Experience in PI (Payment Integrity), such as Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial
  • Experience working in a high-change environment handling tight deadlines
  • Experience working with and influencing all levels of leadership across various functional areas
  • Experience serving as a thought leader while establishing credibility and building relationships at all levels
  • Experience assessing operational challenges and identifying technical and analytical solutions to the problems
  • Demonstrated understanding of various advanced analytical techniques (such as predictive models) used to detect waste and error, and to drive efficiencies across the Payment Integrity organization
  • Mindset geared toward working in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
  • Self-managed, self-starter, able to work in rapidly changing environment
  • High energy, detailed oriented with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and creativity by originating new ideas, anticipating, and implementing next steps

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $113,500 to $218,100. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100.
