The Opportunity

Our analytics community has hundreds of analytics professionals across Ally in communities focused on business analytics, data science, R, Python, Power BI and more and continues to grow every day. As you read this, our Technology and Digital organization is deploying our new Cloud Computing platform to accelerate and expand our digital capability.

As a part of the Data Solutions Support team, this individual will be responsible to build world class analytical product development and self-service data tools. Also, as Data Analyst at Ally you will leverage analytic and technical skills to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data solutions and capabilities to tackle business problems.

The Work Itself

• Retrieve data from multiple data sources and build data sets for end user business consumption using SQL, SAS or Python (Prefer Python)
• Partner with the business to provide data consultancy and solutions that meets their demands.
• Develop self-service analytical tools in open-source tech for business analysts to perform next gen analytics and able to perform their functions easily.
• Possess advanced data analysis skills to extract and analyze data fields from new data sources to propose strong business use case for consumption
• Advanced working knowledge of SQL, SAS, Python, R, and Databases with the ability to write complex SQL statements to build data tables and produce reports
• Possess working knowledge of big data concepts and cloud data warehouse (Hadoop/ Snowflake).
• Understand data governance concepts and work closely with engineering teams and governance teams to act as a data steward on data owned by business line.
• Stays current with industry trends and leads development of key data/analytics innovation platforms
• Support core State audits and Exams by providing high quality data extracts and support on data definitions if required.
• Initiate, develop and execute small to medium scale projects
• Familiar with Power BI/Tableau/Cognos
• Ability to automate data extracts production for business users needs by utilizing scheduling or scripting tools

The Skills You Bring

• Bachelor's Degree in the field of Computer Science, MIS, IT or Engineering preferred
• 2+ Years of Experience working with Relational databases, warehouses and cloud data warehouse experience is preferred. Databases - Oracle, Teradata, Hadoop, Snowflake/Redshift
• 2 + Years of Experience in Scripting language such as SAS/Python/R and must have knowledge to schedule data scripts to automate data pipeline creation.
• 2 + Years of Experience writing complex /Advanced SQL/PL SQL and Curating data layers.
• 1 + Years of experience in coding in Big data environment, Cloud data platforms such as Cloudera Hadoop, AWS or Microsoft Azure
• Functional knowledge and working knowledge of various data architecture patterns and have a good understanding of data warehouse and big data technology
• 1 + years of Reporting and visual experience such as Power BI, Cognos and Tableau
