Mission of the Position
The Global Market Intelligence team works within a highly dynamic environment researching, collecting, and analyzing necessary market data needed to provide leaders with essential information required to make key strategic and business decisions. Data and information include competitive landscape analysis, market trend summarization and exploration of new or current business opportunities, etc.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide global and regional market analysis, forecast comparisons, and perform monthly production/sales volume updates.
  • Creation of presentations, reports, and trend analysis (typically) in conjunction with our global product management, sales, and business development teams regarding customers, competitors, technologies, regional changes/impacts, or legislation.
  • Update market share analysis for powertrain products within MPT's focus areas, including all associated addressable/relevant market updates. Work with Sales or Product Management to perform customer volume analysis as needed during the quotation phase of a new project.
  • Research and remain current on competitor product portfolios, new technology introductions, customer awards, and stated market shares. Information to be tagged and uploaded frequently in GMIS, established profile summaries to be updated periodically.
  • Review and document Magna Powertrain advantages or gaps to top competition via portfolio comparisons & analysis.
  • Identify business opportunities that support our business goals and objectives.
  • Supporting role during the business planning process preparing volume comparisons, market share analysis, updated competitor landscapes, and regional market/technologies trends analysis.
  • Periodic publishing of daily newsletter generated from the GMIS (Global Market Intelligence System).
  • Upload useful reference materials (including market data, news articles, trade show or conference summaries) to GMIS data repository.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Customers and Business Interfaces

  • Works closely together with Business Development, Product Management, Sales, and Engineering, to provide clear and concise summaries to help drive key business decisions.
  • GLT (Global Leadership Team) including all functions like Engineering and Product Management teams.
  • MPT Senior and Executive level leadership.
  • Magna International Senior and Executive level leadership, including Investor Relations.


Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Engineering or similar analytical disciplines.
  • 2 to 5 years (intermediate) or 7+ years (senior) of professional experience working with market research and data analyzation.
  • Ability to take in large amounts of information and reduce down to summarizing key points.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English, German is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent presentation, influencing, and facilitative skills while interfacing with all levels of the organization.
  • Great work ethic with strong motivation and aptitude towards the highest level of quality.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a small well-organized team.
  • High level usage of MS Office programs (excel, PowerPoint, word).
  • Willingness to travel regionally or globally as required (not frequent).


Work Environment
Office environment; up to 10% travel required.
While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
