Role: Data Lead – Enterprise Data Engineering (Banking Sector)

Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Lead with deep expertise in ETL frameworks, data lake architecture, and Apache Iceberg. This role requires someone with strong hands-on technical capabilities, leadership in designing scalable data pipelines, and the ability to mentor junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
- Implement data lake solutions using Apache Iceberg on cloud-native platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Ensure data governance, version control, schema evolution, and ACID compliance using Iceberg.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Architects, and Product teams to understand business requirements.
- Monitor data pipeline performance and drive improvements and optimizations.
- Perform data quality checks, audits, and documentation.
- Solid expertise in Apache Iceberg and data lake table formats (Delta Lake, Hudi, etc. – but primarily Iceberg).
Required Qualification:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, or Data Analytics.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in ETL, SQL, Data Lakes, and Hadoop.
- Proven experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Strong understanding of banking data domains (e.g., customer, transaction, credit, risk).
- Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).
