The Curriculum Development and Instructional Senior Designer is responsible for designing the approach to training projects and developing the curriculum and content needed to support the Retail Client Operations business. This role participates in Go-To-Market and Product Readiness meetings, consults on L&D recommendations and timelines, and prepares their peers for upcoming changes.
The Curriculum Development and Instructional Senior Designer will have advanced proficiency in rapid instructional design tools and on-demand content development (software) and processes (theories and models), as well as adult learning theory. They will also have experience writing learning objectives and assessments using multiple levels of Bloom's Taxonomy and Kirkpatrick's Model. The Curriculum Development and Instructional Senior Designer will build and maintain strong partnerships with the Client Operations team as well as other departments and levels to develop and provide technologically innovative, engaging, and instructionally sound learning deliverables for the organization.
This role also assists in the onboarding, coaching, and mentoring of Instructional Designer II on department standards and processes, design best practices, innovation, and industry standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead curriculum development and instructional design for product lines, new programs, and/or enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Manage large-scale training projects from discovery through delivery.
- Partner with business leaders to align learning solutions with strategic goals.
- Design and maintain comprehensive competency and certification frameworks.
- Utilize tools such as SmartSheets, MS 365, Rally, etc., to track development milestones and projects, and keep stakeholders involved and informed.
- Provide consultation on instructional design best practices and emerging technologies.
- Observe classroom implementation of new training content, and regularly audit trainings, bringing feedback to the team.
- Utilize course data to identify necessary improvements and areas to reinforce.
- Onboard new Instructional Designers to the team.
- Ensure content follows adult-learning theory and serve as subject matter expert (SME) on current trends in learning technology and application.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Adhere to team-established governance and process standards, and recommend revisions or additions as needed.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Agile development methods, and serve as a team leader in the adoption of best practices and the execution of sprint planning and reviews.
- Ensure learning experiences are accessible and inclusive, meeting current compliance standards and diverse learner needs.
- Mentor and support junior Instructional Designers and Learning and Development Analysts.
- Evaluate existing training content against current industry standards and recommend improvements.
- Use Learning & Development team metrics to measure and report on training utilization and impact.
- Maintain a basic-to-intermediate understanding of Cox Automotive products.
- Facilitate Train-the-Trainer (T3) sessions and provide feedback to facilitators.
- Function as project manager for assigned instructional design projects.

- Lead the redesign of a leadership development program for contact center leaders.
- Consult with product teams to develop training for new technology rollouts.
- Attend readiness meetings for a new product and design a learning plan based on desired business outcomes.
- Consult on the strategy for LMS content structure and ensure learning solutions meet platform requirements.
- Present curriculum design recommendations to executive stakeholders.

Who You Are
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 4 years' experience in a learning and development role. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 2 years' experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years' experience in a related field.
- Proven experience analyzing needs, designing, and developing learning deliverables for blended, virtual, self-paced, and in-class formats
- Skilled in using eLearning software such as Storyline 360, Camtasia Studio, and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
- Strong eye for visual appeal and graphic design for learning (e.g., documentation, presentations, guides, self-paced modules)
- Experience creating audio/video content including script writing, storyboarding, microlearning, and in-app guides
- Proficient with tools like Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and SnagIt
- Experience operating in an Agile development environment
- Project management experience
- Advanced verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Proficient in written communications and creating effective presentations using MS 365 and similar tools
- Skilled in using software for collaboration and project tracking (e.g., MS 365, Power BI, Domo)
- Understanding of LMS-supported content types, tagging, and basic administrative operations
- General understanding of generative AI functionality and use of basic prompts to drive day-to-day efficiencies
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Psychology, or related field.

USD 72,200.00 - 108,200.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $72,200.00 - $108,200.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
