Job Summary

The Senior CRE Credit Products Underwriting Manager will lead the underwriting function within the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) team, with direct responsibility for key product categories including Loan-on-Loan Financing, Multifamily Lending, Bridge Lending, and Syndicated Loan Transactions. The Manager will oversee the Underwriting Unit ensuring high-quality credit analysis, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. In addition, this role will contribute to strategic initiatives and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
Pay Range: $140,622 - $186,324 - $232,026

Job Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Manage, mentor and provide directions to CRE Credit Product Portfolio Managers and CRE Credit Analysts
    • Oversee work quality, and performance evaluations while providing training and development opportunities.
    • Manage team schedules, approve electronic timesheets, and ensure smooth administrative operations.
  • Underwriting Oversight
    • Collaborate with Origination and Credit teams in initial loan sizing.
    • Lead risk assessment and loan structuring, identifying potential risks and recommending mitigants to ensure compliance with credit guidelines.
    • Review and approve loan commitments, modifications, and Credit Approval Summaries.
    • Underwrite complex loan transactions and participate in property site inspections with Lending Officers.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Ensure continuous improvement by maintaining and updating underwriting procedures and workflow templates.
    • Prepare weekly/monthly reports on loan and modification activity for senior management.
    • Act as the model owner for the Underwriting Cash Flow model, ensuring compliance with Model Risk Management standards.
    • Address regulatory and internal audit inquiries while ensuring compliance with all requirements.
    • Evaluate and recommend updates to underwriting policies and procedures as needed.

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent.

  • Minimum experience required: 10+ Years of experience in Commercial Real Estate/Multifamily Mortgage Underwriting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education level preferred: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance or Accounting or related field.
  • Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent) in Finance or Real Estate.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory/managerial experience preferred.

Job Competencies:

  • Proven experience in CRE underwriting and credit analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of loan structures across multifamily, bridge, and syndicated products.
  • Strong leadership with demonstrated ability to manage and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and model risk management practices.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders by communicating clearly, engaging in proactive collaboration, and leveraging cross functional insights. Aligns relationship building efforts with enterprise goals to accelerate performance and drive strategic results.
  • Build trusted client relationships, whether internal or external, by identifying needs and delivering tailored solutions to enhance the overall client experience.
  • Fosters or support a positive work culture and productive work environment, displaying importance of effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.
