We are looking for a Videographer (Cinematographer/Editor) to join us - someone who is the best and brightest of engaging content, someone who is eager to commit to our highly creative and gutsy brand, to push the barriers of how Mailchimp appears within our product, website, social and out in the wild. You have a passion for storytelling through concepting, creating and editing video. An ideal candidate is someone who’s an excellent communicator and collaborator, who can power through projects independently but thrive just as much in a team setting. As an in-house team, we want to make award-winning, groundbreaking work and this motion expert will help us get there together. We value creative, self-driven individuals who care about the work they produce and the people they work with—and we love a good sense of humor, too.

What you’ll do:

  • Create high quality video content, including but not limited to: internal, branded content, product focused, promotional, webinars, events, marketing and social media campaigns
  • Collaborate with fellow brand and marketing designers as well as product designers, writers, content strategists, developers, producers, and cross functional partners (outside of design) to deliver beautiful and engaging video content
  • Oversee all pre/post-production and shoots, including storyboard, mood boards, location scouting, equipment, shooting, lighting, sound, edit, music and color
  • Assist with video art direction and building robust decks for talent, crew, stylists, set designers and internal partners
  • Operate and maintain proper levels and calibration of cameras, audio and video recorders, and other production equipment
  • Interpret a brand strategy framework into a creative solution
  • Help establish and lead our visual identity as it relates to video with our product, campaigns and style guides
  • Partner with outside agencies and freelancers to creatively guide video projects
  • Sustain and guide video creative process and style documentation
  • Stay up-to-date with all new technological advances
  • Bring energy and enthusiasm to help grow our video capabilities within our studio team
  • Work toward a mastery of skills in all areas of filmmaking, from handling of equipment to pre and post production

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • 4+ years professional videography/cinematography (shooting and editing) experience
  • Strong portfolio of work including short form content
  • Impactful/inspiring visual storytelling through lensing, composition and camera movement
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently, remain open and flexible, collaborate and manage ambiguity
  • Proficient with video editing software - Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Davinci Resolve, Cinema 4D
  • Experience with motion graphics and logo animation
  • Proficient with color grade and use of LUTs
  • Experience with lighting and sound - able to guide others in this area
  • Proficient at concepting, storyboarding and scripting
  • Detail oriented and able to identify quality issues in audio and video
  • Exceptional communicator who can roll with the punches and laugh along the way
  • Willingness to jump in at any stage of a project
  • Capacity to be diplomatic and flexible and to provide thoughtful solutions to design challenges

At Mailchimp, we understand that experience comes in many forms. We don’t just accept differences, we celebrate them, support them, and hire peeps from a wide variety of backgrounds because it makes our company stronger. We’re dedicated to adding new perspectives to the team - so if your experience aligns with what we’re looking for (even if you don’t check every single box), please consider applying!
