Job Description
Hamilton Company is seeking a UX Technical Writer to join the R&D Software team in building state of the art software for our precise liquid handling robots. The position entails writing automated testing for development of software and becoming an expert in use of product software to support customers when they encounter issues. Other responsibilities include:
- Write and edit text for applications to help facilitate user navigation, including instructional text, UI labels, confirmation screens and error messaging
- Maintain existing and create new user product documentation
- Lead content audits to identify opportunities and drive consistency across all products
- Manage and prioritize projects with multiple stakeholders
- Understand how copy compliments the visual style, interface, and interaction flow of applications to enhance the user experience
- Create and maintain a comprehensive library of content standards and be a champion for best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, advertising, marketing or other relevant field or equivalent practical experience
- 4+ years of professional writing experience in a corporate environment
- At least 1 year of UX writing, content strategy, digital marketing writing or equivalent
- Experience working directly with software engineering teams on a product for a technical audience, such as developers, DevOps, IT professionals, or engineers
- Self-starter who can manage multiple projects and stay focused when faced with changing requirements
- Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills; can fit a complex and/or technical concept into a handful of words for a non-technical audience
- Passionate advocate of user-centered writing
- Enjoys collaboration with visual designers, engineers, and product managers
- Ability to manage multiple projects/issues concurrently, and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Experience within the healthcare industry
- Knowledge of writing for web accessibility
- Experience conducting or participating in user studies
