Job Description
SchoolMint is looking for a Technical Writer to join our Product Team. In this position, you will review new features and solutions with our Product Management, Development, QA, and Marketing teams to create product documentation and additional materials including user reference guides, design guides, help documents, and videos. This position requires effective planning, scheduling, research, and writing skills. Travel requirements for this position are quite minimal.
What You Will Do:
- Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements
- Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
- Develop and maintain detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, product documentation, tutorials, release notes, and design specifications
- Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
- Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation for both existing and additive functionality
- Possess exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating close attention to detail
- Take on new challenges and demonstrate a desire to build on current skills
About You:
- Previous experience writing software documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
- Experience working with engineering to improve the user experience: design, help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical content
- Experience working in an Agile environment alongside Product Managers, Product Owners, UX Designers, and Developers
- Experience interpreting functional requirements and translating them into product and feature documentation
- Scrum training and certification is a plus
- Audio/Video and graphical content building experience is a plus
