Technical Writer
Job Description As a Product Technical Writer you are responsible for the production, creation, and maintenance of documentation to support JET Platform, software engineers, and internal business partners. This includes the ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner while ensuring accuracy. This position will primarily work with the necessary subject matter experts (SMEs), technical staff, and product managers where you will produce robust, accurate, and easily understood technical primers, API specifications, internal process documentation, and reference materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or Scientific/Technical Communications is preferred with a minimum of 5 years work experience.
- Technical Writing or Technical Communications experience required.
- Strong attention to detail, personal organization, collaboration, and time management skills.
- Experience with Markdown and/or other Docs as Code.
- Working knowledge of HTML, XML, or/and HTML5.
- Experience working with technical experts to translate information into clear, logical, layperson content.
- Knowledge with content development tools, for example, JIRA and Confluence.
- Ability to partner with colleagues and contribute to the success of the team.
- Effective written, communication skills, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and respond to documentation needs.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Visio, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Advanced knowledge of industry trends in Content Strategy with practical experience applying this knowledge
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Write clear and easy to understand documentation for existing and new products.
- Maintain and improve the existing documentation to support JET platform, engineering, and business partners.
- Research new and complex product features to collect technical details for documentation.
- Build a library of technical terminology and documentation.
- Collaborate with product stakeholders to gather feedback and follow up on documentation development.
- Organize documentation and make it easily discoverable.
- Produce technically accurate and well-written documentation, conducting regular technical reviews to ensure quality and accuracy.
