To achieve coherence and consistency for Astra Space's engineering test documentation set, we are looking for a Technical Writer who could alleviate the pressure on our engineers who at the moment not only perform the various tests on our equipment and components, but also must create the test plans, test procedures, test reports, engineering change orders (ECO), maintenance manuals, and user manuals.
Responsibilities:• Interact with the various engineering teams (avionics, propulsion, launch operations, and so on) to develop documentation for all aspects of the Astra equipment and product test environment.• Track and manage the development of engineering test documentation in coordination with the applicable engineering and regulatory requirements.• Work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with excellent deliverables.• Perform peer review and edits of other writers' work to ensure consistency and adherence to good writing techniques.• Continuously curate our library of engineering documents (test plans, test procedures, test reports, maintenance manuals, user manuals, and other documentation).
Qualifications:• Excellent technical writing skills.• Strong proficiency in native English language skills with regard to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage.• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of technical writing experience.• Familiarity and experience with providing documentation to support compliance with various regulatory requirements (MIL-STD, AIAA, AMS, ANSI/ESD, ANSI/NCSL, ASTM, IPC, NAS, ISO, SAE-AMS and so on).• Familiarity with the LaTeX documentation system.• Strong technical aptitude - ability to quickly learn new concepts and tools,• Experience with the documentation needs of the test engineering environment.• Exceptional project management, collaboration, and communication skills.
Desired Multipliers:• Technical writing experience in space, aviation, or automotive industries.• Technical writing experience with specific focus on MIL-STD, AIAA, AMS, ANSI/ESD, ANSI/NCSL, ASTM, IPC, NAS, ISO, SAE-AMS, and other compliance.• Familiarity with single-source publishing and content management software.• Minimum of 2 years experience with developing engineering test documentati
ITAR Requirements: This position requires compliance with U.S. Government space technology trade restrictions, specifically the International Trafficking in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and additional regulations governing satellite, launch vehicle, missile, and other related technologies. All jobs restricted by these regulations will be contingent upon the applicant's status as a documented U.S. Person or their ability to receive a trade license from the cognizant government agency; in addition to any required company background checks and in compliance with applicable U.S. and California laws. Similarly, positions requiring the ability to work on government contracts or a security clearance are also contingent upon the applicants ability to receive the appropriate clearance and be allowed to work on U.S. government contracts.
