Responsibilities

Guidehouse seeks a qualified Technical Writer Responsible who will be responsible for the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of documents including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation. The person in this position will write and edit technical documentation for a large IT system implementation to include installation, configuration and how-to documentation as well as briefings, training courses, graphics, correspondence, dashboards, and point papers. In addition, they will produce implementation guides and end-user guides for capabilities; provides field, data definition, and data flow documentation and formats technical publications from pamphlets, technical drawings, and consultations with technical personnel and other available resources.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Understand basic concepts and write technical copy for various types of documents for large-scale systems implementation
  • Produce user manuals, training manuals/materials, and other documentation utilized by the end-user community of DoD electronic equipment and systems
  • Author content to prepare stakeholders / users for adopting new processes and systems (e.g. emails, presentations, demos, website content)
  • Develop templates for relevant communications and change management plans, status briefings, and deliverables
  • Prepare reports, responses, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences
  • Organize information from multiples sources, and express technical information in written form that is comprehensible to a wide audience of readers
  • Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings and operational procedures
  • Apply concepts for technical writing based on engineering drawings, technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and other available sources
  • Maintain a current internal documentation library
  • Use multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to present a concept in a way that connects with the audience

Qualifications

The following qualifications are REQUIRED to be considered for this role:

  • An ACTIVE TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph; Conditional Certification of Access (CCA) eligible and must be willing to upgrade to a full scope polygraph
  • Six (6) years experience as a Technical Writer in programs of similar scope, type, and complexity is required (large IT system implementation)
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required
