Technical Writer - Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Manager, Technical Writer with a background in API documentation, and a passion for growing and leading a team of technical writers and managing the entire Knowledge Base at Teachable.
You will be responsible for revamping the structure of the Teachable Knowledge Base while ensuring that information is easy to find according to information architecture best practices. While developing and implementing a strategy to align Teachable Knowledge Base to drive business objectives such as ticket deflection.
The Manager, Technical Writer will report to the Director of Product Marketing and manage and build a team of technical writers.
What you’ll do
- Write articles for the Teachable Knowledge Base, both for new features and updating existing features; Partnering closely with the product, engineering, and marketing stakeholders to understand new features and their benefit as they’re being developed
- Revamp the structure of the Teachable Knowledge Base, ensuring that information is easy to find according to information architecture best practices
- Play a key role in writing for the Teachable Developer Hub, including authoring and improving our API documentation, tutorials, and content for new developer-focused features
- Responsible for decisions around information architecture and structuring Knowledge Base content so that it is easy and intuitive for users to find answers to their questions
- Gather, analyze, and make documentation decisions based on traffic, search, and quality metrics
- Learn, understand, and explain concepts associated with e-learning, course creation, and payment processing
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience as a technical writer in the startup space
- Experience managing Knowledge Base content on Zendesk Guide
- Experience managing API documentation on Readme
- Experience using Google Analytics, Algolia, and other tools that provide analytics and insights into documentation performance
- Prior knowledge of HTML and CSS in order to style custom Knowledge Base elements
- Prior experience leading and managing a team is a plus
Additional Details:
- This role is open to remote candidates in the U.S.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- For this role, the base salary range is $80,000 - $105,000. Total compensation also includes a competitive benefits package and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). A salary offer will be determined by a number of factors including experience, skill level, education, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all teammate pay and compensation programs regularly to ensure competitive and fair pay.

Base salaries will be reviewed at regular intervals throughout the year, typically following performance review cycles currently conducted bi-annually or in conjunction with a promotion.
While Teachable maintains our NY office for local employees to use, we operate as a remote-first culture in order to give our employees added flexibility. In order to maintain connection and create a community beyond the screen, Teachable holds company-wide, in-person events 2-3 times per year, where employees and teams can come together for team bonding, strategic alignment, goal-setting, and celebrations!
