We're looking for an experienced people manager to lead the Azure Deployments content development team. In this position, you'll lead a group of talented technical writers who plan, write, review, and publish technical content for Azure in close collaboration with the product team. This team plays a critical role in helping our customers manage Azure cloud resources through the use of PowerShell, Azure Resource Manager, and roles & policies.

This role is responsible for ensuring content availability, quality, and discoverability for technical documentation, skilling/learning, and architectural guidance content for Azure Deployment services, including services and scripting languages like Azure PowerShell, Azure CLI, PowerShell, Azure Policy, Blueprints, ARM, Bicep, Terraform, etc. (https://docs.microsoft.com/azure).

  • Leadership: Lead a diverse team with deep technical skills to execute plans for creating and maintaining documentation and skilling content for Azure Deployment Service technologies.
  • Manage: Create an inclusive work environment where every employee can effectively communicate, engage, and be a contributing member to the team to drive initiatives that provide exceptional customer experiences.
  • Enable: Provide ongoing feedback that helps direct reports learn, grow, and develop to achieve impact and advance their career aspirations.
  • Plan: Develop action plans for objectives and key results (OKRs) that support the team and organization's primary goals.
  • Execute: Maintain strong working relationships between your team and key partners to align on and deliver the right content solutions for product and customer needs
  • Partner: Maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across engineering, marketing, strategy, customer experience, support, and related partner teams.
  • Customer: Seek to understand customer perspectives and identify opportunities to improve our customers' experiences (process, tools, technology).

  • Experienced people manager of diverse and inclusive teams with strong people development skills.
  • Can see the big picture and communicate a cohesive and integrated content strategy for the others to follow.
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively with executives, engineering teams, and others to define deliverables, and to share and align on strategy.
  • Experience assembling, leading, and working within strong cross-functional groups and matrixed team environments.
  • Proven skills and abilities to consistently create positive customer experiences.
  • Track record of problem-solving ranging from conceptualization to implementation.
  • Ability to juggle and manage several priorities and drive clarity.
  • Ability to use data to help inform decisions.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of proven writing, content design, information technology (IT), or coding/programming experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of people management or team lead experience leading people/teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years Cloud industry experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer focus and engagement experience
  • Experience working directly with software engineering teams
  • Proven project management, organization, and planning skills, including a track record of delivering great results in a matrixed environment
  • College degree or technical certification in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, English, Writing, Journalism, Communications or related field
  • 5+ years of technical writing experience in a software company preparing professional customer-facing documentation or training
  • Knowledge and understanding of content strategy and content design techniques
  • Familiarity with scripting and deployment languages like PowerShell, Bash, etc.
  • Experience working in GitHub and with Markdown language
  • Experience using Azure Deployment Service technologies: Azure PowerShell, Azure CLI, PowerShell, ARM, Bicep, Terraform
  • Background in system administrator, DevOps, or other related profession
