AECOM is seeking an adept, imaginative Senior Writer/Technical Editor for a position that can be remote/virtual based or a combination of working remotely and in any AECOM office in the United States.

Job Summary:

As part of the Americas National Governments marketing team, Senior Writer/Technical Editor will support knowledge management efforts to capture and organize information used in key proposals and presentations and will support proposals for federal clients by gathering, analyzing, and composing technical information into clear, readable documents.

Knowledge Management Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead updates to key corporate information and metrics so that critical and most used information is available to the team, and identify additional information and metrics to track
  • Provide leadership and direction for capturing and updating prioritized resumes and project descriptions and assist with tracking status and updates
  • Gather, analyze, and compose information for project descriptions requiring client pre-approval
  • Assist with tracking client pre-approvals

Technical Writing Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Gather, analyze, and compose complex technical information.
  • Conduct research and verify the use of proper technical terminology.
  • Translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Organize material and write descriptive copy according to established standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Support content development related to clients/markets or special projects, as requested by communications, client account managers (CAMs), and other business lines, as necessary.
  • May contribute to the development and implementation/presentation of internal training content.
  • Provide technical writing support and decipher directions provided on scripted storyboards.
  • Review documents for technical accuracy in accordance with applicable regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree, preferably in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or a related Bachelor's degree plus six (6) years or more of technical editing and/or copy editing experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Due to the nature of this position, U.S. Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years or more of related experience, with five (5) or more years of experience in technical writing or proposal writing
  • Strong writing and editing skills and developed understanding of effective writing
  • Ability to write, edit, and produce documents in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to edit and produce documents in Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign)
  • APMP/SMPS certification is a plus
  • Working knowledge of and interest in the A/E industry, including U.S. federal clients
  • Working knowledge of collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, etc.
  • Understanding of CRM systems, with Salesforce experience a plus
  • Initiative, skill, and personal commitment to manage multiple projects and details concurrently, with follow up to bring tasks and projects to full completion
  • Ability to produce accurate and compelling work independently and with others
  • Proven organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to complete varied work tasks on schedule, and proven ability to manage documents
  • Experience demonstrating leadership qualities

Additional Information:

  • Relocation is not available for this position
  • U.S. Sponsorship assistance is not available for this position
  • Offered rate of compensation (for Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range is $70,000- $100,000 annually.
