Senior Writer, Marketing and Communications

Reporting to the SVP, Global Corporate Communications, the Senior Writer, Marketing and Communications helps us tell the story of Pearson's purpose in the world through lively and engaging content and written materials. You'll collaborate across the Corporate Marketing and Communications Team, and its agency partners to create vibrant and lively written content. We need a gifted storyteller who has the range to bring to life everything from social media content to press releases to executive speeches.

Key Deliverables

Best-in-Class Content Development

  • Work with the Corporate Marketing and Communications Team to develop concepts for various forms of written content and work with internal and external designers to bring those ideas to life in creative and compelling ways.
  • Translate brand personality, tone and voice, and key messaging into compelling written content that aligns to overarching strategy and marketing & communications priorities.
  • Write and edit copy for a variety of content types, including video scripts, infographics, one pagers, social media copy, press releases and speeches.
  • Source and produce original content for the corporate blog and lead the blog "Editorial Board", a global team of colleagues who source and develop blog content.
  • Work with various comms and marketing teams to write and develop web and social content for major corporate initiatives and special projects, such as product launches, brand campaigns, and thought leadership campaigns.


Building Relationships and Working Cross Functionally

  • Advise stakeholders on the best way to shape their ideas into compelling content.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across global corporate communications and marketing to ensure communication activities align to the corporate strategy, brand and messaging, along with the broader corporate communications cadence.
  • Display excellent interpersonal skills - someone who is likable, a team player and who has the personality, global perspective and cultural sensitivity to effectively collaborate across the organization.
  • Conduct yourself as a team player with a high level of personal and business integrity who will command respect with peers and across the organization.
  • Advocate for workplace inclusion and social responsibility.


Qualifications

  • Superior Written Communications Skills: As an education company, high quality written and spoken communication is essential; this person must be an effective and credible conveyor of information both internally and externally as an ambassador of the brand.
  • Ability to Convey Complex Ideas: The ability to turn complex ideas into simple, clear, and vibrant language is a must for this position.
  • Experience Writing for Multiple Formats: The ideal candidate will have experience writing across a range of short and long form formats.
  • Content Development Expertise: Experience writing, developing, and supervising the development of a variety of digital content for social media, the web, and various PR and marketing purposes. Experience in a direct-to-consumer or digital brand is highly valued.
  • Understanding of Audiences: Understand analytics & insights around audience traits and behaviors to craft messaging and copy that speaks to and engages our key audiences in the right way.
  • Trend Spotter: Cultural savvy, curiosity, a knowledge of popular cultural and the ability to tie the Pearson brand to that. Understanding of Gen Z culture.
  • Understanding of Social Media and Web Principles: Must possess a deep understand social media platforms and how they function along with the principles of web design and SEO performance.
  • Creative Thinker: The ability to think quickly, creatively and problem solve is a must.
  • Collaborative approach: The ability to diplomatically, convincingly, and credibly navigate internal relationships and stakeholders; intellectual rigor and emotional intelligence are a must.


**All candidates will be asked to provide a portfolio of writing samples.

The anticipated starting salary range for Colorado-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $75,000 - 95,000. This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program.
