About the role

The Senior Copywriter creates compelling promotional content that aligns with strategic communication objectives for multichannel-marketing campaigns. The Senior Copywriter is a creative, conceptual thinker who collaborates with the rest of the project team to ensure that the writing, design, and technology we develop achieve the client’s communication objectives and are greater than the sum of their parts.

The Senior Copywriter should be able to serve as a writing lead on projects across multiple brands and quickly learn new brands as they are added to our client roster. Being the writing lead means executing high-level creative, as well as managing the details of execution. While there will be projects on which she/he will have support from a Junior Copywriter, Clinical Research Associate or Copywriter, a Senior Copywriter must be adept at reviewing and executing on changes from the internal team, client, and medical-regulatory-legal reviews.

The Senior Copywriter primarily contributes marketing writing and content management to projects. When called upon, the Senior Copywriter participates in creative campaign concepting.

What you will do

  • Executes strong, engaging marketing writing that aligns with strategic inputs and is highly relevant to the audience and project requirements and instructions
  • Writes for the healthcare providers, patients, and sales representative audiences
  • Collaborates productively with designers, writers, and A/CDs on the creative team, as well as strategy, account, motion media, tech, and UX team members
  • Provides copy support for medical-regulatory-legal reviews; works closely with the Clinical Research Associate to annotate documents, maintain accurate reference citations, and complete revisions
  • Completes revisions for assigned projects, maintains file hygiene and records copy changes throughout the creative process
  • Presents copy and projects at internal and client meetings, as well as thoughtfully participates in creative and technology critiques
  • Understands and follows the company creative process; adheres to brand style in both copy and design while applying best practices for copywriting
  • Contributes to creative brand planning and treatment development for multichannel marketing campaigns, as requested by A/CDs
  • Communicates effectively with the project team to keep deliverables on schedule and foster a positive and productive team environment
  • Supports new business pursuits—organizing and contributing to client presentations, pitch work, and client decks, etc.

About you

  • At least five years of writing experience; healthcare marketing copywriter or medical writer with patient-facing pharma experience preferred
  • Must have a digital portfolio (please include a link to your portfolio in your resume); a portfolio that includes pharmaceutical marketing or healthcare samples is preferred.
  • Degree from a college or university in marketing/advertising, English, communications, journalism; or a healthcare-related degree with extensive writing experience and samples
  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in brand writing, copyediting, referencing, proofreading, and creative research
  • Has experience effectively cooperating and collaborating with designers, creative directors, art directors, project managers, etc.
  • Active listener who is skilled at conceptualizing ideas and incorporating copy and design feedback to meet project goals
  • Has keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while staying on deadline
  • Agency experience preferred
  • Experience with brand launches preferred
