Job Description This role is for a Proposal Associate on J.P. Morgan's Global Proposal team in the U.S. region. The proposal manger will write clear and concise copy to produce high-quality, effective proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). The goal is to gain either new revenue, or the successful retention of existing clients for Merchant Services.
A strong proposal manager is a creative writer, strategic thinker and project manager with the ability to assist in customizing each proposal by gaining an understanding of the client's needs and conveying our company's value proposition in a compelling way without sacrificing compliance. Our ideal candidate is a team-spirited, skilled and imaginative writer with an eye for detail.
Responsibilities include
Business results:

  • Work with the Global Proposal team, located in the U.S. and London, as needed to coordinate market-specific responses.
  • Write clear, error-free content that adheres to the firm's style guidelines.
  • Edit and proofread copy as needed.
  • Develop working knowledge of Merchant Services' product suite in order to update standard content as appropriate. Translate technical information into language understood by all levels of clients.
  • Conduct high-quality research and interviews with subject matter experts to clarify details.
  • Propose copy concepts and present underlying strategic thinking to business leaders.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects with short deadlines.


Client/custom focus:

  • Periodically conduct post-mortems to identify opportunities for improvement to our products and processes, and where necessary, share learnings with team.


Teamwork and leadership:

  • Collaborate with peers across Presentation and Proposal teams to support development efforts, share best practices and increase team efficiency.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and leverage change management discipline to bring ideas to fruition.
  • Work to expand support model and other critical projects as needed.


Risk and controls:

  • Ensure all materials are compliant with Legal and J.P. Morgan brand guidelines prior to proposal submission.


Experience and skills:
To qualify, candidates must have a combination of skills and experience that include:

  • At least two to three years of hands-on experience writing proposals or equivalent experience required.
  • Excellent English writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong project management and organization skills required.
  • Payments industry knowledge desired.
  • Proven self-starter, detail oriented, well organized and able to multi-task effectively.
  • High level of independence, energy and integrity; demonstrates respect for a diversity of opinions and styles and accepts accountability.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
