The Role
Are you ready to break down the barriers to mental health care? We’re looking for an experienced Editor-in-Chief to lead content strategy and oversee the editorial team for Monarch, a SimplePractice company. Monarch supports people throughout their mental health and wellness journey, from information-gathering, all the way to booking a therapy session and managing their care. We are in a unique position to transform mental healthcare as a part of SimplePractice, the leading practice management software for clinicians.
As the Editor-in-Chief, you’ll work closely with the VP of Marketing to develop a content strategy for Monarch, and build our editorial program and brand voice from the ground up. You will own the production of high-value content, oversee our guest author program, build editorial workflows, and expand our content library to increase engagement, traffic and conversions.
The ideal candidate for this role will have developed a successful content and editorial strategy for an established health or wellness brand, and demonstrates high-level strategic and creative thinking. They will have experience assembling and managing a group of quality freelance writers and copywriters, show strong attention to detail, and adapt in a quickly-evolving environment. Passion about mental health is a must.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with VP of Marketing to shape brand voice & tone
- Set vision and strategy for increasing consumer traffic, engagement, and newsletter subscribers
- Build and manage guest author program to develop quality editorial content across various formats and mediums
- Develop clear editorial process end-to-end, including ideation, outlining, creative assets, editing, publication, and promotion
- Edit content carefully with a sharp eye for clarity, adherence to voice & tone, citations, and factual accuracy
- Keep tabs on mental health and wellness trends, develop fresh content ideas and approaches that are ahead of the curve
- Build a data-driven approach to content development, based on an in-depth understanding of SEO best practices
- Oversee the development of actionable, on-brand marketing copy
Requirements
- 10+ years of content and editorial experience, with at least 3 years in an editorial management role
- Fantastic writer — rich portfolio of both long-form articles and marketing copy
- Excellent editor, knowledge of Chicago and MLA Style
- Experience hiring and managing writers
- Strong understanding of advanced SEO
- Project management and leadership skills
- Content experience in the consumer health and/or wellness industry required
