The Job
CNN en Español (CNNE) seeks an Executive Producer, multi-platform content to manage the process of planning, creating and distributing content across all verticals and platforms of CNNE. The Executive Producer works with all teams to determine the scope, format and packaging of content for all platforms , alongside key partners and subject experts, and oversees a team that creates, curates and leverages CNN's journalism and optimizes it for audiences on Digital, Social, Audio and Linear TV platforms.
The Daily
- The primary function of this job is to manage day-to-day content development from the "publish first" mandate at CNNE and then strategically insures that the material and stories are spread from our core to our brand and business -- across all verticals. Duties would be evenly divided among vision, collaboration and execution.
- Vision: Strategically identifying how to maximize story impact for audiences and working with the planning, newsgathering, breaking news and feature and product teams to determine hows to hyper-serve audiences and enable them to "follow" story lines or subjects/regions of interest; serve as the editorial representative to keep CNN's efforts in the core news space ambitious and modern; drive innovation. Engaging a range of entry-level journalists and high-level talent to best serve the story, audiences and the organization.
- Collaboration: Work across platforms to develop best practices and a content and breaking news-playbook; integrate angles and approaches to stories; guide what's needed for planned events (Live Story, profiles, sidebars, SEO, etc); set and meet goals for coverage (examples: Extreme Weather, Oscars, Elections, townhalls, debates) with ad-sales and operations.
- Execution: Decide how we are going to cover news events; edit and write posts; interact with Triad and convey wider guidance across organization; proactively pitch angles for subject experts and programming
The Essentials
- 5+ years in a digital media environment with a focus on editing, assigning stories, directing news coverage and journalists, or comparable experience
- 8+ years of experience and proven track record leading teams.
- Sound editorial and social judgment; excellent writing and visual communication skills.
- Strong content management system experience on desktop web, mobile web, and mobile.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment making independent decisions.
- Strong understanding of mobile, apps, and social media.
- Strong copy-editing skills are needed for this role
- Bachelor's Degree
- Demonstrate understanding of news, audience and Multiple platform expertise.
- Must be a strong leader and be able to manage vertically (his or her own direct reports) and horizontally (across peer group, up and down the organization)
