Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking an experienced, creative and data-driven Content Editor and Writer to join our BeChewy blog and help grow the lifestyle and wellness verticals for our millennial audiences.

You’ll develop, assign, write and edit content across a broad range of lifestyle topics relevant to millennial pet parents, including health, fitness, nutrition, home, DIY, fashion and holidays. The ideal candidate is an idea-generating writer and editor who is deeply passionate about millennial lifestyle service content and can’t start their day without first visiting sites like Refinery29, The Everygirl and Well + Good. You should also be highly skilled at using data and SEO insights to inform story ideation, a pro at line-editing features and explainers, can seamlessly integrate e-commerce into content, and come ready to brainstorm big ideas to grow the lifestyle and wellness sections.

We aren’t necessarily looking for a pet editor, but rather an editor who can take typical lifestyle topics and reimagine them for people who share their lives with pets. How to incorporate workouts into your dog walks. Design tips on making the most of your small apartment so that it works for both you and your pets. Homemade pet treat recipes made from items you can find at the farmer’s market. These are all the types of topics you would explore in this role. (Sounds amazing, right?)

We at BeChewy view pet parenting as an adventure. Our mission is to celebrate the role of pets in our lives, make life easier for busy pet parents by connecting them with products and services, and because pets bring us together, create a unique universe where fellow pet parents who “get it” can find their tribe.

What You’ll Do:

  • Help plan long-term content strategies and develop lifestyle and wellness content for pet parents and pet lovers.
  • Assign, edit, and produce fresh, creative, and useful content for digital, video, and social platforms to grow the lifestyle and wellness sections and evolve the BeChewy voice
  • Pitch articles and content continuously, but also ideate, champion and bring to life new columns, projects and features
  • Manage and mentor freelance writers, helping them improve the quality of their work while also overseeing delivery of timely, accurate content
  • Take a practical and creative approach to SEO. You are a savant at targeting keywords but also write beautifully
  • Partner with other teams across our organization (product managers, SEO, social, brand marketing, communications, design, email, and other teams) to make on-strategy, data-driven content
  • Move content through the production process with ease and accuracy, incorporating changes, working with art and production teams, preparing sourcing for fact checking, and more

What You'll Need:

  • You have a minimum of 5 years of editing experience, and experience managing and mentoring writers on a digital platform, preferably women’s lifestyle or eCommerce
  • You have clips or a portfolio of relevant lifestyle work for reputable publishers or brands.
  • You have a passion for service journalism; you’re enthusiastic about helping readers make informed choices and getting them the information they need
  • You can easily balance large and small projects and deadlines running concurrently, and have experience working in a highly matrixed organization and with large cross-functional teams
  • You have experience working in analytics tools and using data to inform creative decisions
  • You have the ability to operate in a dynamic organization, flawlessly multi-tasking to hit deadlines and bring big ideas to market
  • You’re organized and detail-oriented
  • You love pets (furry, scaly, feathery!)
