The Director, Math Curriculum oversees the content development of Amplify's Core Math print curriculum. The Director, Math Curriculum is responsible for the authoring and editorial review of the entire K-12 math print curriculum, from brainstorming of lesson ideas and unit themes through proofing, production, and customization. The Director, Math Curriculum manages the Managing Editors (who in turn lead teams that write the different grade bands within K-12) as well as the Editorial Lead (who in turn oversees the editorial team and the writing of ancillary materials). The Director, Math Curriculum will report to VP, Math Education.
Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Managing Editors, who are responsible for content writing across K-12.
  • Meet on a weekly basis with Managing Editors to balance their collective workload and ensure consistency and coherence across the curriculum.
  • Oversee the Editorial Lead, who is responsible for the Authoring Guide, the editorial team, and the ancillary team.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate RACI documentation for both content and editorial teams throughout the product development timeline
  • Work with the Managing Editors and the Editorial Lead to balance the collective workload between the two teams, when applicable or necessary
  • Work closely with the Project Management team and other department leaders to monitor project health, and identify and resolve issues and risks.
  • Work closely with the Product and Project Management teams to ensure timely delivery of materials for field trials, pilots, and commercial release.
  • Work with Managing Editors and Project Management to ensure timely creation and delivery of customized versions of the curriculum.
  • Work closely with the Design team to finalize templates and approve any changes, and to ensure a smooth review process during proofing.
  • Work with the VP, Math Education to manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisors, so that their feedback and vision are represented in the curriculum.
  • Work with the VP, Math Education and Managing Editor, Digital Curriculum to ensure alignment (where necessary) to print curriculum.
  • With the VP, Math Education, manage the budgets of the content teams.


Basic Requirements:

  • 10+ years of editorial experience with curriculum
  • Familiarity with mathematical curricula, standards, and pedagogical trends across K-12
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics
  • Comfort using Google Docs and Suggesting changes (i.e., "track changes")
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working effectively across teams with diverse priorities and focus
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in mathematics and education


Preferred Requirements:

  • 10+ years of editorial experience with mathematics curriculum
  • Comfort with mathematical typesetting
