The role of the Director, Formative and Interim Solutions, requires enthusiasm, agility, creativity, diplomacy, and critical thinking skills. Additionally, the role requires a level of expertise and experience for engaging with internal and external stakeholders about their work and practices that is educational and collaborative. This role within Content Development has a critical remit to drive initiatives that will shape a variety of formative and interim solutions designed to support student learning and achievement at all phases and help expand our portfolio of assessment solutions and the channels by which it reaches students. The Director, Formative and Interim Solutions position will report to the Vice President, Global Content Solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Adapt a creative, engaging, forward-thinking approach to formative and interim solutions that provide feedback to teachers and students during instruction such that they can adjust ongoing teaching and learning to improve students' achievement
  • Lead the design and development of new and existing formative and interim assessment solutions.
  • Establish an environment of problem-solving while maintaining discipline, productivity, and accountability
  • Manage and monitor plan, including timelines, costs (including vendor and content item authoring management) and product requirements, in order to release a quality product on time and on budget
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and identify resource needs
  • Work with internal stakeholders, and management to clearly communicate the content development roles and responsibilities and manage the fulfillment of those roles throughout the process
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and risk, and devise contingency plans in collaboration with the VP of Global Content Solutions and key stakeholders
  • Track and distribute critical communication and information in a timely fashion to core teams to reduce confusion, redundancies, delays, and additional expense
  • Occasional travel will be required


Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of proven experience in assessment development, including establishing and execution of process and outcomes
  • Proven management - teams, resources, and project success
  • Ability to understand, adapt, initiate, and implement change required
  • Ability to manage, give direction, receive feedback, and work within a small, collaborative team
  • Evidence of strategic and analytical thinking and planning, team leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, good judgment, and the ability to influence others is required
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills as well as the ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information effectively
  • Ability to lead and collaborate actively with others on internal and external cross-functional teams and to build consensus and foster collaborative relationships across teams
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong business acumen, including comfort with budgetary accountability
  • Excellent organizational skills are required
  • Exceptionally strong attention to detail is required
  • Ability to adapt to new software products for assessment and/or learning experience delivery


As required by theColorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $135k - 145k.
