Essential Functions:

Prepares, reviews and revises internal style guidelines based on competitor research, customer history, and any related copy feedback as assigned. Serves as resource to company regarding compliance of new or existing style guidelines to assure compliance with style guidelines for all business units.

1. Monitors daily workload and stateflow to ensure compliance in states and takes action as appropriate on Item Publish in Cold Cache or PIM and reports findings to Manager and executes direction with Copy team members.
2. Audits product categories on a quarterly basis to ensure compliance against company standards and to compare to competitor standards to gain alignment in the industry and ensure correct information is being communicated.
3. Creates response-generating, on-brand headlines and messaging on assigned advertising and direct mail pieces, including covers, inside front and back covers, alternative media, catalog pages, digital assests and web projects.
4. Partners with Quality Assurance and Copy and QA Manager to analyze, create and refine standards based on customer feedback and reporting maximize content efforts.
5. Reviews industry leaders and competitors as well as keyword research to create copy and site recommendations on descriptions and product titles.
6. Maximize SEO to ensure strong customer experience by turning product feature information into compelling sales-generating copy.
7. Updates training manuals on a quarterly basis to ensure compliance to standards and changes to workflow.
8. Inputs descriptions and daily copy edits into PIM for both print and on-line contacts. Develops and proofreads product descriptions for catalogs and other special projects by using the specific guidelines that have been set according to the business unit.
9. Communicate written content and guidelines to other members of the copy team to create content that is consistent in style, tone, quality and brand-relevant.
10. Brainstorm and conceptualizes with other key members of the Creative team and Merchandising.
11. Abides by all policies and procedures of OTC.
12. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Marginal Functions:

1. Participates in wall reviews as needed.
2. Researches trends in market as it applies to key messaging on-line and in print.
3. Researches different alternative media tools to become familiar with potential creative assignments.
4. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Copy and Quality Assurance Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

• Bachelor of Arts degree is preferred with emphasis in advertising, journalism or other creative writing.

Experience:

• At least two years writing experience with emphasis on response-generating advertising and/or direct mail copy.

Other Qualifications and Physical Requirements:

• Grammatical and creative ability in related field.
• Must have excellent organization, time management and communication skills.
• Requires the ability to work independently and creatively within the pressure of deadlines.
• Must have the ability to multi task with an excellent attitude regarding change and input from others.
• Ability to key stroke 45 wpm.
• Must be proficient in a Macintosh environment.
• Ability to perform job in a safe manner.

Equipment Utilization:

Macintosh computer, various color, black and white printers.

Responsible for the creative, timely, efficient completion and relevant, on-brand messaging of projects for Oriental Trading Company media.
