You'll start by working on developing the rest of our core content framework & strategy in partnership with our small-but-mighty marketing team and in collaboration with internal experts at Zone. You will bring creative leadership and excellent written skills to bring our brand to new heights.
This is an incredibly exciting and momentous time for Zone with our recent funding , so there's a wonderful amount of opportunity to make your mark and make an impact.
About the Job:
This role is a production "generalist" role with the opportunity to develop into leading content creation and strategy should that be appealing to you. As a Content Strategist, you'll be utilizing a variety of mediums and channels to tell Zone's story in the way best suited for the audience and moment - Zone Blog, Email, Social, YouTube, Podcasts and more, all in collaboration with your fellow production teammates. Your objective? Create content that's valuable at all stages in the customer journey to generate high-quality traffic for our owned and paid channels - especially for lead generation. Therefore, you'll need to have some experience (and sample work to share) in web marketing, social media, blogging, video production, and/or podcast development associated with traffic and lead generation.
You will be considered the domain authority on Zone's voice and all "owned" content, including some aspects of our website - like copy. This means you'll have access to resources to help you produce content across channels, though you love doing most of the production work yourself.
It's also likely you'll spend a lot of time with our Business Intelligence team to garner insights from various sources to guide content development and planning.
Along with having an analytical sense of direction, you'll also need to have at least an intermediate understanding of SEO/SEM as we have a lot of room for growth in evergreen traffic generation. We know that evergreen content is a long-term game, don't worry.
You'll also need a keen sense of empathy and a developed process for understanding the thinking, reasoning, decision-making, reactions, and guiding principles of the people we support in our business (i.e. leads, prospects, partners, potential talent, and customers). These should be guiding factors in content development and mapping out search intent along the customer journey.
And of course, you love to write, and talk, too. You understand that storytelling is the most powerful form of communication and that the words matter as much as the pixels designers create. You know that great production doesn't always turn into effective storytelling (i.e. it's so much more than that), and that iteration is always better than perfection.
Here are some things to give you a sense of what you'll be doing on the job:
- Evaluate website analytics to identify content improvements that may improve conversion rates
- Work with internal and external experts to develop insights-driven blog content
- Interview customers & develop case studies on how our products have evolved their monetization capabilities
- Develop our podcast in partnership with our Multimedia Producer
- Similarly, with the Multimedia Producer, you will assist in growing our YouTube presence, filling it with meaningful and useful content along the entire customer lifecycle
- Support our Channel Strategy by co-creating content with Partners, like white papers, research reports, and content for co-marketing campaigns
- Create and manage webinar series
- Strategic content development and execution for social media (will have access to design resources)
- Develop content for marketing materials, marketing campaigns, and high-fidelity content for larger events - like NetSuite releases, conferences/trade shows, and other (virtual) events
- Help shift our acquisition strategy to an attraction-based model using research-driven content
- And more!
Content Strategist Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or self-guided experience in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
- Minimum 3-5+ years of experience working for a company or agency
- Creative story-telling abilities which result in original content that provokes human connection and lead engagement
- Excellent writing skills (including editing and proofreading)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills that will allow you to productively interact with roles at all levels of an organization
- Adept at keyword placement, content optimization, and SEO best practices; familiar with social media metrics; and have basic technical knowledge of HTML, web publishing, and web traffic metrics
- Have proficiency in content management systems (we use Webflow)
- Proven successes in a professional content production role
- A portfolio of previous digital communications work to showcase experience and creativity. Please try and show us how you solve business problems with content if you can -- huge plus for the team here since we're very problem-space & human-centered design oriented
- Ability to clearly present content ideas and concepts for campaigns and projects
- A team player with exceptional organizational and technical skills
- Self-driven to take ownership of assignments and meet deadlines
Content Strategist Would-be-awesome-but-not-required:
- Experience within a related industry such as software development, accounting, finance, or other professional service
