Job Title: Compliance & Ethics Senior Director (EG-160)
Reports to: Chief Compliance & Ethics Officer

Position Summary:
The Senior Director, Compliance & Ethics Policy, Culture & Communication (EG-160) is a key leadership position responsible for advancing and sustaining the organization’s global compliance and ethics culture. This leader oversees compliance communications, the creation and governance of global-level corporate policies, and partners with the Global Learning team to develop and implement a comprehensive global Compliance & Ethics education strategy. The Senior Director manages a team of four professionals and closely collaborates with business leaders and functions around the world to ensure a consistent, effective and aligned approach to compliance and ethics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of four compliance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • As a member of the Compliance & Ethics Leadership Team (CELT), actively contribute and collaborate with other CELT members to deliver the BMS Compliance & Ethics Program, fostering decisions best for the enterprise.
  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance strategies to promote an organizational culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
  • Develop and deploy innovative global compliance communication plans—including campaigns, training, change management initiatives, and reporting—to build awareness and understanding of compliance and ethics standards.
  • Partner with the Global Learning team to develop and implement a holistic, impactful strategy for global Compliance & Ethics education, ensuring educational programs are relevant, accessible, and tailored for diverse international audiences.
  • Oversee the writing, maintenance, and governance of all corporate-level compliance policies, ensuring alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices worldwide.
  • Drive the harmonization and simplification of policies and communication processes, balancing compliance objectives with business practicality and an excellent user experience.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and stakeholders regarding compliance culture, communication, education, and policy interpretation.
  • Monitor regulatory trends and industry developments to proactively assess their implications for company policies, education, and overall compliance programs.
  • Use data-driven insights to assess the effectiveness of compliance culture, communication, and educational initiatives; recommend and implement improvements as needed.
  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and collaboration within the Compliance & Ethics team and across the global organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management, or corporate governance.
  • Proven experience in compliance communications, education strategy development, and corporate policy management in a global context.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally, particularly with Learning/Training teams, to deliver impactful educational initiatives.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrable experience influencing a global audience.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and team leadership abilities.
  • Strong project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound judgment and ability to navigate complex, sensitive issues with discretion.
  • Global mindset; adept at working in a multinational, diverse environment.

Preferred:

  • Compliance certification (e.g., CCEP, LPEC)
  • Experience within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or similarly regulated industries
  • Multilingual abilities

Compensation Overview:

Princeton - NJ - US: $230,440 - $279,233

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
