POSITION SUMMARY

Provides legal support and advice, research, analysis and legal drafting concerning telecommunications regulations, marketing, contract, compliance, labor and employment law and miscellaneous other business matters to Company personnel.

Essential Functions Statements

  • Draft company filings with the FCC, RCA, and other regulatory bodies

  • Provide legal support and advice to company personnel on a broad range of local, state and federal legal, regulatory and compliance matters.

  • Negotiate and draft contracts, including service contracts, leases, confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements, settlement agreements, and contract amendments on a variety of issues, as well as advise Company personnel on their negotiations and review and edit proposed contracts and other documents.

  • Provide legal and regulatory analysis, advocacy, and dispute resolution.

  • Serve as a resource for less experienced personnel, providing expert opinion or guidance as necessary.

  • Analyze and interpret legal issues, draft written memoranda and present to Deputy General Counsel and/or the Management Team.

  • Provide peer review and assistance to coworkers.

  • Draft, review and advise on the Company's Corporate Compliance Program, and other policies, and procedures.  Perform other duties and complete projects not specified on this job description, as assigned.

Education Required

At minimum must have a Juris Doctor degree from accredited law school.

Preferred:

Coursework or experience in telecommunications or other highly technical field of study.

Experience Required

One year’s practice in law. Admission to the Alaska Bar Association. Experience with telecommunications.

Computer Skills

Good hands-on experience MS Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, Access and Outlook.
