Role Overview
We’re hiring an Assistant Finance Controller: Revenue Operations to lead our financial operations, with a primary focus on U.S. revenue accounting. You’ll be a key player in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, handling everything from daily transactions to month-end close and financial reporting. Your expertise in U.S. GAAP or IFRS will be critical as you manage revenue recognition, account reconciliations, and the automation of financial processes. This role requires you to work cross-functionally with our product, sales, and operations teams to ensure our financial data is clean, reliable, and provides a clear picture of business performance.
What You’ll Do
Manage Financial Operations
- Oversee daily accounting activities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial data is accurate and timely.
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring strict adherence to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Lead Revenue Accounting
- Develop and maintain robust revenue recognition policies and procedures in accordance with ASC 606.
- Manage the billing process, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing and collections.
- Automate revenue-related processes and collaborate with the engineering team to build scalable financial systems.
Ensure Compliance and Quality
- Implement and maintain internal controls to protect company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts, with a special focus on revenue-related accounts.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations in the U.S.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally
- Partner with BI and business operations teams to provide financial insights that drive strategic decisions.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Provide financial data and analysis to support key business initiatives and investor reporting.
Who You Are
- 8+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a management or senior role.
- Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, with proven experience in applying revenue recognition standards (ASC 606).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite), Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Bonus: Experience in the insurance or SaaS industry, or experience with Applied Epic and other Agency Management Systems.
