Job Description The Business Architect is a strong leader who will form solid working partnerships with senior stakeholders, product and delivery team across the various platforms within Merchant Services. Key objective would be to drive and define a strategic future-state working model that can be leveraged to modernize our products and services. The candidate will also drive strategic delivery roadmap with close stakeholder partnership for multi-year and multi-phase transformation projects. The architect will become the trusted strategic platform and roadmap advisor to technology and business leaders.
Candidate should have deep architecture and engineering background with industry knowledge and expertise to help drive innovation that can shape the future of global digital commerce. The work involves collaborating with teams of architects, aligning cross-functional projects and ensuring their fiscal and technical integrity. Part of the role will include recruiting talent, mentoring, and lateral management, setting priorities and fostering a client-centric environment where everyone learns and grows. At the end of the day, their work will have tremendous and positive impact, whether it's in-house, in collaboration with technologists across JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s global technology community or in partnership with some of the leading tech firms and merchants in the world.

  • Drives and facilitates the right discussions with business leaders to identify business capabilities in relation to current and future business objectives
  • Provides leadership guidance, makes recommendations and collaborates with business to ensure solutions meets the business needs on a complex project or program
  • Works closely with Domain architects and leaders to develop domain roadmaps
  • Works closely with solution/technical architects to deliver business architecture artifacts needed for End to End Architecture & Solution Architecture Approach deliverables
  • Uses innovative thinking to develop new solutions
  • Presents recommendations and solutions clearly and concisely and is able to focus on key points to portray the intended message or purpose
  • Partner in the strategic planning process by providing input to the scope definition of strategic initiatives leveraging capabilities
  • Takes an active role in enterprise portfolio investment strategies by assessing and rationalizing proposed enterprise capabilities
  • Business thinking and highly strategic in order to define practical solutions that align with corporate strategy
  • The ability to apply architectural principles to business solutions
  • The ability to visualize and create high-level models
  • Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques
  • Expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
  • Experience architecting solutions on public or private clouds
  • Experience in risk and risk control compliance
  • Expertise in microservices and event driven architecture style for building scalable and resilient applications
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
  • Creation of architecture artifacts including conceptual, logical, security, and physical architectures and data flow diagrams.
  • Work with IT and business units to create investable and executable technical roadmaps
  • Work with business stakeholders and gain support for critical technology investment decisions
  • Act as a key advisor to senior IT and business leadership
  • Scope and size technology investments
  • Evaluate technologies, vendor solutions and applications
  • Manage the application portfolio lifecycle, and champion IT assets that can be leveraged across lines of business
  • Work across LOBs with other architects for solution alignment

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of IT experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience as an software architect responsible for designing large complex IT solutions
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in collaborating directly with business partners to ensure technical solutions deliver on business objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage enterprise architecture principles to develop business strategies into investable technical roadmaps


Preferred Skills:

  • Financial services experience with a focus on Banking
  • Banking knowledge and direct exposure to credit card processing business principals
  • Experience in an Agile delivery model
  • Experience with Public or Private cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with Domain Driven Design
  • Experience with Kafka Event Streaming
  • Experience with Cassandra or equivalent no-SQL databases
  • Experience applying a micro-services architecture
  • Experience with an API Management platform
  • Experience leading cross-cutting architectural programs
